Anybody besides me having a case of deja vu over this? Sure sounds familiar. Maybe two weeks ago?

The fire near I-10 was still burning last week when I went past on my way to Houston. Having a second one so soon is an odd coincidence. I'd like to know what the failure mode was.

This explosion happened just across the bayou from our property. I was looking out my kitchen window when the house started to rumble and the fireball shot into the sky. I grabbed my camera and went out the back door and got photos of the fireball. All of the local stations are using my photos. If you’re interested, all upload them to photobucket and post them.

Monday, December 17, 2007 10:24 AM CST

By The Times

A motorist in Louisiana was killed when a large natural gas pipeline owned by NiSource Inc. exploded along Interstate 20 near Delhi, La.

Corbin Fawcett, 47, of Haleyville, Ala., was driving in a 1985 Chevrolet pickup truck when a section of the Columbia Gulf natural gas pipeline exploded at 1 p.m. Friday and the vehicle crashed, according to Louisiana State Police. A passenger sustained minor injuries.

The westbound lanes of I-20 were closed for about five hours and eastbound lanes for about eight hours by the blast, according to state police. The Columbia Gulf pipeline runs 4,200 miles from the Gulf of Mexico to the Southeast, Midwest and East.

NiSource Inc. is headquartered in Merrillville and also owns NIPSCO, Indiana’s largest utility. NIPSCO gas supplies were not affected by the incident.
