MIAMI In a stinging defeat for the Bush administration, one of seven Miami men accused of plotting to join forces with Al Qaeda to blow up Chicago's Sears Tower was acquitted Thursday, and the case against the rest ended in a hung jury. Federal prosecutor Richard Gregorie said the government planned to retry the six next year, and the judge said a new jury would be picked starting Jan. 7.

CNN?
Must have been a bunch of airheads who hate the President so they want to let terrorists go to “teach the Administration a lesson”. I hope and pray for all of our sakes that there won’t be a second attempt to blow up a large building here at home.
Are they from the oj pool?

Lotta Ron Paul supporters in the jury pool, apparently.
The war at home has been politicized. It is not a defeat for the Bush administration for Al Qaida agents to be cut loose in America. It is a defeat for America and a win for the terrorists.
The Democrats put party before country every time.
Any followers of The Profit on the jury?
“In a stinging defeat for the Bush administration...”
Well, and for all of America...except the MSM, who lost their right to call themselves American long ago.
The group never actually made contact with Al Qaeda. Instead, a paid FBI informant known as Brother Mohammed posed as an Al Qaeda emissary. The defense portrayed the seven men as hapless figures who were either manipulated and entrapped by the FBI or went along with the plot to con "Mohammed" out of $50,000.
The group never actually made contact with Al Qaeda and never acquired any weapons or explosives. Prosecutors said no attack was imminent, acknowledging that the alleged terror cell was "more aspirational than operational."
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

IF they were guilty, it is a defeat for me, not George Bush.
Yesterday there was a thread about one of the jurors being a Hamas supporter who lied about his beliefs in order to be selected, so that he could cause a hung jury. The FNC report of the outcome of the trial said nothing about that.
In fairness, would these idiots have done anything if informant “Brother Mohammed” (not much imagination in FBI) didn’t jack them up to do something? They never even tried to contact Al Queda, they just “wanted” to. Isn’t the FBI’s time better spent finding and deporting (and hopefully killing in stand-offs) MS-13 leaders?
Sounds more like some dopey prosecutors and investigators cooked up the charges to boost their own careers. The defendents weren’t initiating the plot, had no contacts or connections with terrorists and had to be pushed along the whole way.
This isn’t a case of a conspiracy aming jurors to let terrorists go free, it’s a case of the DOJ Nifonging itself because they figured the topic was so emotional a jury would look past the fact the case was cooked up. Some people just saw this as a chance to get a big conviction and build up their careers.
Another indictment of the peer jury system.
Luckily, the FBI is large enough to do both jobs. But I'd rather they identify potential terrorists early and take them into custody than AFTER the fact.
Yeah. Potential terrorists. Like anyone who owns a gun. Or keeps a food supply. Or checks certain magazines and books out of the library. Or posts on the FreeRepublic.
Have you been on jury duty lately? It’s become an exercise in depression. And I used to believe in it. I guess I still do, given the lack of a decent alternative. ‘Always some overly agressive type to rock the boat, and invariably some liberal “Oh, we can’t do that” invariably female to go along along with it. I’ve been called for it again in mid-January. But I’m not looking forward to it.
Yep, I have... and you are right... that is almost how it has been every time!

oh please!
