A FRUIT-picking trip to southern New South Wales ended in the death of a Scottish backpacker who became embroiled in a bizarre row about creationism and evolution.
English backpacker Alexander Christian York, 33, was today sentenced to a maximum of five years jail for the manslaughter of Scotsman Rudi Boa in January last year.
Mr Boa, 28, died on January 27 after being stabbed by York at the Blowering Holiday Park, near Tumut.
Mr Boa and his girlfriend Gillian Brown arrived in Australia from Scotland at the end of 2005 and went to Tumut to pick fruit as their first...

...
The couple, both biomedical scientists, had been arguing the case of evolution, while York had taken a more biblical view of history.

“The court was told that before the killing, York had also complained that Mr Boa had smoked his marijuana and drunk his beer without giving him anything in return. Mr Boa and his girlfriend Gillian Brown, from Nairn, were fruit-picking at the time of his death, as part of a year-long, round-the-world trip.”

yes it does - York was teh creationist - had he been the evolutionist he’d have gotten probation.

No, had he been the evolutionist, he wouldn’t have felt his entire worldview to be threatened by an intellectual discussion and everyone would have eaten, had a few drinks and headed off to bed.

How do they know which was which though, since only one survived to testify?
He probably said that he was the creationist in order to slime the creationists.

Look at the rest of the story:
The Scottish couple and York, neighbours at the caravan park, were becoming friends and spent the night of January 27 drinking at the Star Hotel in Tumut. ... At a pub...
Drinking all night, continuing in a pub. As the Grinch said "Brilliant"

"No, had he been the evolutionist, he wouldnt have felt his entire worldview to be threatened by an intellectual discussion and everyone would have eaten, had a few drinks and headed off to bed." No, If they all hadn't spent so much time smoking marijuana, drinking, and thinking flawed thoughts, then Mr Boa and his wife would have sensed when to shut up and back off, and the evolutionist would have been able to have the sense to control himself as well

York was a "sicari". A knifeman.
There was no Greek word for the Chaldean word "sicari", so sicari was bastardized into the Greek word Zeliotes, or zealot.

...when he attacked the couple outside his tent, stabbing Mr Boa with a kitchen knife ...
Had this been a knife free zone...
We must ban knives!!! /s

Did you even bother to read the article you are commenting on? The victim's girlfriend was there. I doubt she conspired with her boyfriend's killer to slime creationists.

York said he had lashed out in self-defence, after being attacked by Mr Boa.Perhaps you missed the above quote from the article. The creationist was defending himself from a physical assault by the evolutionist. That isn't to say both of those idiots weren't at fault in this moronic incident.

trip to southern New South Wales ended in the death of a Scottish backpacker who became embroiled in a bizarre row about creationism and evolution. Death. The same result that will befall any political party that gets embroiled in this hopeless religious debate.
Someone best remind the Discovery Institute, and it's various supporters such as Michael Medved, Ann Coulter and others the risk of embracing either side of this debate.
