“Behind China and India, the U.S. is the third most populous nation in the world and we’re fast catching up. As population grows so does the amount of energy we need. Just as two people require more water than one person so it is with energy in a modern society.”

Fast catching up? We’re not even close and the only reason we may be coming closer is their death rates are higher.

Especially in California! The entire notion of cutting back on energy consumption is idiotic. Our civilization needs energy for productive growth and the security of its existence. There's no way the demands of the enviro wackos for extreme reductions in CO2 emissions output can be met without putting an end to civilization.

Exclude the illegals and let’s see what the growth rate is.

We’ve aborted over 40million Americans and are home to 20million illegal immigrants who are here because we reportedly don’t have enough people to do the work.

We haven’t been building power plants and oil refineries at the rate we’ve needed.

(Girl in the back with her hand raised, jumping up and down in seat):

I know! I know! Call on me! Put up a fence along our southern border, then fine every single employer of illegal aliens $1000 per illegal per day, and our population will go down as fast as it takes old, uninsured sedans filled with 8-12 people each to get to Tijuana!

I would think Pemex would be more upset about this than anyone - it’s their potential customer base that is fueling most of the demand. ;)

Since much of the increase in America’s population is due to immigration, it isn’t accurate to say that this country is having a population explosion because that term refers to population increase that results from a rising birthrate. But, otherwise, the author’s complaints about immigration are valid and makes one wonder if it is really prudent for the U.S. to continue its open door immigration policy.

We’ve passed the 300 million mark.

We’re almost 1/4 of the way there.

More support for the environazi population control agenda.

No conservative should support this population control crap.

Opposition to illegal immigration is great -- but don't be useful idiots for the radical left.

SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!

Methinks you should read some Julian Simon. We have more than enough resources worldwide for a food/energy SURPLUS. Besides, population growth has been slowing worldwide since the 1960s.

Leave "population control" to the lefties.

What nonsense. The population rising is supposed to make us unable to afford energy, huh? Right, that is why we only have affordable energy back in 1783, when people lived by candlelight and the only energy came from burning wood you gathered and chopped yourself.

Rising population fuels rising economic growth fuels new technology after new technology, yields abundant power ever more efficiently. But the Malthusians haven't changed one note of the hymn, despite it being stompingly wrong for 200 years and counting.

Aren't we importing something like 15% of our refined petroleum products? We simply don't have enough refinery capacity. This will really make us vulnerable.
