SOUTH Korean scientists have bred cats that glow in the dark by inserting a fluorescence protein gene into the DNA of clones, which makes them glow under ultraviolet light.

The procedure could help scientists develop treatments for genetic diseases in humans.

Scientists led by Kong Il-keun of Gyeongsang National University produced three cats with altered fluorescence genes, the Science and Technology Ministry said.

"It marked the first time in the world that cats with RFP genes have been cloned," the ministry said in a statement.

In a follow up experiment SOUTH Korean scientists have bred pole dancers that glow in the dark by inserting a fluorescence protein gene into the DNA of clones, which makes them glow under ultraviolet light. The navies of 7 nations have requested port of call rights in SOUTH Korea since the announcement.

Would the feline even be born if the embryo hadn’t been changed so the cat could glow in the dark? Life is better than no life even if one glows in the dark.

I suppose this would help them NOT get hit by cars at night....but I doubt it’s good for a long healthy life. Don’t scientists have better things to do?? LIke cure cancer?

Yeah, because with fluorescent cats, we can bypass many cat scans. The cats will be obvious; we won’t need x-rays to see them.
