Forget the shopping and how hectic it is at this time of the year. Remember why we rejoice and the reason for the season. Leave politics alone for about five minutes and enjoy this. Every year at Christmas Mass, this brings me to tears. This is glorious, even with crappy computer speakers.
Doug listens to Josh... never saw that one coming.
Was?...he IS a great kid, with an awesome voice to boot!
It looks like he is going to give Andrea Bocelli the run for the money....just kidding.
I am so happy that we finally are getting fine replacements for the likes of Luciano!
He did an absolutely beautiful & amazing job of singing that song...
The TRUE reason for the season!
PRAISE GOD for the birth of our Savior...
:-)
I’m disconnected, too. I probably wouldn’t have known about him if he had gone to school with my daughter. She was in three school plays with him.
Thanx Doug, much enjoyed!
Not going to. He already did.
I tried to buy tickets to a Bocelli concert - and they were only being sold to GOLD American Express Card holders. No other form of payment would be accepted.
I never cared for Bocelli or his music after that.
Love Josh!! Thanks for the link.
I love this song.
I didn’t care for this version. Sounds like he should sing it in a higher key. He looks like a very young James Brolin.
That was a great job by Josh. Definitely. One of my all-time favorite songs. But....
NOBODY sings that song better than Andy Williams.
Great voice. What I like about it is it is completely lacking the shrillness most classically trained tenors have. I studied under a pretty good one in LA many years back. And while I greatly respected his craft and he taught me a lot, I really never liked his voice. But Bjorling's voice has balls, even on high G.
I've never figured out how someone can be a mezzo and a coloratura and everything in between all in the same package. And she is. And what a knockout.
With all that said, Groban has an unbelievable quality that I've never seen before. Holy Night is a really hard piece to sing well--wide range, esp if you do the high note at the end. It doesn't demand much flexibility but great endurance and range. It's hard work while you are singing. But he's just effortless. He's not doing any apparent abdominal support (and you see that in almost every good classical singer--that's why a lot of them press their hands together, makes it easier for some reason). Granted, he's in an overcoat. But you should see the physical effort of support and you don't. Another thing, his voice quality really doesn't change from chest to head voice.

Thanks for posting this, Doug. What a lovely Christmas present.
Yes, that vibrato, what was he thinking! It was so distracting and made it where you couldn’t even pay attention to the song, the music, the words or the message.
If he were to sing that way on American Idol, Simon would have him yanked off the stage and would apologize to the viewers for this kid using too much vibrato!! I think he should be forced to go to voice class until he retrains himself not to use soooo much vibrato ........................... NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess this is a clear case of no matter how unbelievably great you perform, you cannot please everyone.
Thanks so much. This one’s going on my desktop for daily play.
mrs
Great voice!
