Boehner admits GOP money situation ‘sucks'

“Now the money sucks for two reasons,” Boehner said in a Politico interview. “People are mad at the president; they are mad at the party. And then [there is] this whole immigration fight. People just turned off the spigot.”

Boehner has undertaken a study, consulting corporate image experts, to “re-brand” the party. But so far, no big ideas have emerged. Some of his own colleagues regard Boehner as more of a transitional figure, between the Gingrich-DeLay era (in truth, both men drove Boehner to distraction) and the next generation of leadership.

Good. You can't give the country away and expect no-one to react.

Hey John! Instead of wasting our money in that manner why don't you try paying something other than lip service to the document that the great unwashed of the party spends a great deal of effort and treasure to produce - the platform - and see how that works for ya? I'll bet if you did that the money might magically return!

Why pay to get screwed by a fake democrat Rino?

The idea that conservatives should finance and vote for big spending, big government, pro-choice, open border, anti-conservative republicans just to keep democrats out of power is a big part of what is wrong with politics in general and the republican party in particular.

What is the difference if Ted Kennedy pushes through a program like No Child Left Behind or if George Bush does it for him?
Either way, in the end, another costly liberal expansion of government occurred at the expense of taxpayers and states rights.

If a candidate wants our votes they should earn them.
Just saying “Vote for me because I am not running as a democrat.” isn't enough anymore.

Damn straight, we have. Individual targeted donations to true conservative candidates and perhaps a few “anybody but the RAT” donations for the general election. But when national throws away our money for RINOs like Specter and Chaffee, forget it. We don’t trust you to do the right thing. Either the Republican Party gets back to conservative fundamentals or it will be replaced.

You all took the words right out of my mouth

“consulting corporate image experts, to “re-brand” the party.”

They just dont have a clue. The current mood of conservative aint good and it’s been building for several years now. We have illegals overwelming the country..committing crimes..abusing our schools..and welfare programs. The scum prez of Mexico comes to the US and insults us..RATS are going unchecked at every turn. The UN is still standing...mussies are considered TROP. The list goes on and on. Elected R’s are so far removed from reality it hurts! They hide under their desk if when confronted by a RAT but when confronted by conservative concerns they give us the “you little people just dont understand” attitude.

Grow a spine, listen to talk radio, check in with FR daily, talk to joe/janesixpack and sell every Republican consultant to the ragheads!

There is and will be more TURNING OFF THE SPIGOT if the GOP gets it in their mind to keep on supporting Open Borders and Amnesty/Pathway to Citizenship for Criminals.

There are very few ways to protest to these politician types. They do understand one thing and that is money talks.

And if the G.O.P. refuses to go back to its conservative roots then maybe another true conservative party will eventually emerge.

I reluctantly donated $100 to the RNC this year. They’ve been calling non-stop for more money ever since. Finally I told them to quit calling. From now on I will donate only to particular candidates that I am convinced will uphold conservative principles.

Didn’t seem to do them a lot of good did it?
I think the Clintons are the ones that perfected the focus group polls typo of political gamesmanship.
I don’t give a fig about focus groups, I want a real person and a true conservative at that, not one who is conservative sometimes when the polling says it is beneficial.

Agree totally.

Although based upon congressional approval numbers they don't even listen to their focus groups.

And in the final analysis the blame squarely lays upon "We the people ... " and our penchant for giving our loyalty to political parties and not "the Republic".

I get tired of saying this, but: Voting third party or refusing to vote at all is the same as voting for the Demonrat.

I get tired of saying this: that is a moronic formulation for sheep.

If you don't vote then you will exert zero influence on the Republican party and they will have no reason to seek your vote.

Not true at all. This is exactly the way to get some influence back.

Voting third party is just a wasted vote since none of them have a snowball's chance in Hell of winning.

No, voting Republican is a wasted vote. Conservatives voting for these socialist clowns are no less on the plantation than blacks voting for Democrats.

Let’s examine what this means.

The only way for a party to hold the majority — which is the only mechanism to define the agenda (regardless of advancing it) is to hold seats in swing districts/states and maybe even a handful of seats in outright opposition states.

The Democrats currently have what they would call moderates holding seats in districts that Bush won. The only way the GOP held the majority before was by holding seats in blue states with candidates who we would certainly call moderates.

And so, how will the procedure outlined (assuming you are going to research all 535 seats of Congress each election, which you likely will not) win seats in those liberal leaning or moderate districts?

Without those seats you cannot have a majority. Without a majority your only role is to prevent the advancing of the opposition agenda. They decide what bills are voted on. Your bills never get out of committee and so you can’t define an agenda. For the minority, obstruction is the only measure available to avoid being irrelevant.

So the question is what is above, with elaboration. How does funding staunch conservative candidates in Nancy Pelosi’s district constitute wise use of resources — and are you going to do the necessary research every election into all 535 members of Congress to know where to send money? Odds are you will not. No one likes to do work in order to lose money. That’s why donations are made “easy”. Therefore this procedure outlined is more probably one that will fail to win an opportunity to define an agenda than not.

They cite the reasons why, they know the reasons why, yet they are so stupid they continue to deny those reasons as they exist. I turned off my campaign funds to the RNC before the last election. I will not turn them back on. I give to my conservative republicans here in Alabama, Jeff Sessions especially, but I will not give a damned penny to the RINOcrat party. I guess this country is just going to have to get it butt reamed out by the Marxist Dimocrats for a few years, controlling the WH and the congress and let everyone see just what a total mess they will make of the country. Then, if people are happy with the USA becoming like Mexico, 99% of Africa, 100% of South and Latin America, and all of Europe, then the Republic is done, and Marxist Amerika lives. I guess then, I will join the partisans and fight back.

We’ve already lost if the quality of our leadership is based on the least offensive alternative.

We need a leader that leads from the front with a vision for the future. At present, although once in a while there are glimmers of hope, there are no leaders.

A list of issue positions does not a leader make.

You vote the best available choice, even if only one issue separates the Republicans from the Democrats.

However, I am trying to find the issue the distinguishes between the two. Part of my concern is that I have a hard time believing any campaign rhetoric, since Bush never really followed through on many of his promises, IMHO. Was he better than Kerry? Yeah, but not by much the way it will turn out.

All this talk of immigration enforcement I find totally non-credible, since I believe the fix is in...there will be no border enforcement in any Democratic or Republican administration. I hope I am wrong, but I don’t think so.

Taxes will go up regardless.

There will be no changes to the health care system.

Our foreign policy will be in a shambles.

Our intelligence gathering will reflect our internal conflicts, and will be useless.

We will remain dependent on foreign oil.
The banks will still dictate monetary policy to our detriment.

There will be talk of better education, and no means provided to pay for it.

Our roads and infrastructure will be in a state of increasing decay.

We will not find security from terrorism, except through the erosion of our civil rights.

Political correctness will stifle free speech.

God will become more scarce in the public discourse, except in the form of derisive comments such as those made by Katie al-Kouric who asked if it was harmful to display Christian symbolism at Christmas.

The free press will become more irrelevant and more partisan, and will lack the credibility to be the nation’s watchdog organ.

We have lost our sense of direction and purpose as a nation.

We are becoming an homogenized society with no special abilities. We are becoming Europe. We are enthralled by the talking heads, and are starting to stifle our instincts that tell us, “No This is all wrong ” We are drinking the kool-aid.

Which of these candidates will make a difference? Which of them understands the underlying historical forces at work that will destroy a great nation.

Please God show me a sign...they certainly are not.
