They’re baaaaack! You know what I’m talking about — the swarm of advice-minded blogs and articles that inundate the Internet every December, dishing out the dos and don’ts of the infamous office holiday party.
While overall fete etiquette is the aim of many, we’re going to get right to the juicy stuff.
To hook up or not hook up at the office party, that’s the question – and a not so easy one for that matter.
The office holiday party provides the seemingly perfect opportunity to get a little closer with somebody who has been, up until that point, eye candy.
Well-groomed and well-dressed, many colleagues can have us focusing on a bit more than work during business meetings, water cooler breaks, and random Xerox machine meetings. And given that we spend so much time with our co-workers — getting to know some of them better than many of the people in our personal lives — familiarity, camaraderie, and simple hours spent together can breed desire.

Do companies still throw these kinds of parties? I assumed that they were as passe as the 5 martini lunch. I’m having lunch catered for my employees and sending everyone home with a ham. We’re not a very exciting bunch.

Don't shat where you eat.
In this day and age, it's a prudent move to keep one's work life and off-hours (home) life separate, especially when one wrong move can result in a sexual harassment lawsuit or years of child support payments.
My first year at a large corp, they had the whole works including discounted hotel rooms. The party was canceled because of weather. Sales went south and we started doing the put luck lunch thing.
My company’s party wasn’t that exciting.
Don’t get your honey where you get your money.
I tend to shun our work’s parties and get-togethers as a rule. Nothing good rarely comes from personal work relationships.

I must be incredibly old fashioned because the as I read this article it seemed to be that the basic question was, “Do I whore myself around at work or not and if I do can it benefit me?”
