COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (CNN) -- A Colorado Springs megachurch instituted security precautions after a shooting at a Denver area mission center earlier Sunday, saving "hundreds of lives" at the New Life Church, senior Pastor Brady Boyd said Monday.
A New Life parishioner acting as a security guard shot and killed a gunman who entered the church Sunday afternoon after he had gotten no more than 50 feet inside the building, Boyd said.
...
Boyd said the female security guard was a hero in preventing further bloodshed, rushing to confront the gunman just inside the church.
"She probably saved over a hundred lives," Boyd said of the guard, whom he said is not a law enforcement officer and used her personal weapon.
...
"Hundreds of lives were saved yesterday because of the plan that was put in place," said Boyd, who put the number of people on the church campus at the time as 7,000.

Ahah, she’s not making any pay. She was a volunteer. Yep, not hero here. We are definately deflating the real meaning of hero.
Yikes!
Talk about your brass ovaries!
Our church has volunteer security guards who patrol the building and parking lots during services to prevent theives from stealing stuff from cars. Perhaps a suggestion should be made that those guards be packing as well.
Washington is a “Shall Issue” CCW state. And I do know that many of our members own and shoot firearms...including my pastor.
Yep, they'll call her an "armed security guard with a law enforcement background."
The image they want to create is that she was not an ordinary civilian with a CCW.
STRONG WORK!!!
See the original article as well as numerous posts making it clear that this woman was not a paid security guard, just a volunteer.
Said Boyd, who put the number of people on the church campus at the time as 7,000.
This was a mega church. SOP
When is her Grand Jury indictment? You know that they will prosecute her.
GOOD SHOOTING!!!!!
Any ID on the perp yet? Is LE unable to determine an ID, or are they hiding something they don’t want the sheeple to know?
This is the description of the guy from the first shooting. Who wears skull caps, hmm?
Then another guy just busts in heavily armed and wearing body armor, but is taken out after killing only two people - young women that I hope the Lord clasps to his breast as he comforts their family.
Then there's this nugget in the CNN story - Authorities say the Arvada and Colorado Springs shootings may be related, and overnight police from Arvada executed a search warrant obtained by Colorado Springs police for an address in the Denver suburb of Englewood. Authorities did not say how the address may relate to the case.
Isn't it interesting that these incidents happened so close together and some officials are admitting they may be related? Wonder what else might link the gunmen.
Well, it appears your screen name is accurate.
No he is just doing what God has ordained him to do!

Or those macho, posturing, SWAT types in Blacksburg, VA eight months ago...
Good for her.
When will the anti-gun crowd get it thought their THICK, LIBERAL skulls that THIS is what stops criminals, crazies, and terrorists with guns and ill intent?
So-called "gun-free" zones don't get it, and never will.
It's armed law-abiding citizens of ALL stripes (church goers, students, teachers, administrators, employees, pilots, etc.) that will stop these savages in their tracks, NOT police officers who usually arrive AFTER the carnage (the recent shooter in Omaha did everything he set out to do in about 4 minutes or less, and the police didn't arrive until all the shooting was done).
So ... you wouldn’t celebrate that she saved lives because she was getting paid for it? So, policemen who put themselves on the front lines are not heroes either, tho they risk their lives? What about the military? They are paid. What about ...? It has to be a non-paid position, then? That, to me, is a very impoverished point of view.
Thanks RedBob. I did note the other comments about that point and addressed it in a later post.
