What Would Free Republic Do If Fred Thompson Is Not The Republican Nominee? (Vanity)
December 9 2007 | jveritas

It is very obvious that Fred Thompson is Free Republic most favorite candidate and by far. On the other hand every other top tier Republican candidate, Guiliani, Romney, Huckabee, and McCain are absolutely disdained by most Freepers. Therefore this is the important question:

What would Free Republic do if Fred Thompson is not the Republican Party Nominee?

There is still a good possibility that the Dems will nominate fat Bill. I know, but he may be the last man standing.

You think? I honestly consider Giuliani a preferable candidate to Huckabee. That’s not saying much, but it is what it is.

Agree with you. And if FR goes 'third party'; it will be courting a Repub disaster that will far surpass any scenario imagined; even one that requires holding one's nose to vote.

I don’t believe Hillary meets my standards as a conservative. Anything less than a real conservative is a vote for Hillary or any other democrat. If you wish to compromise the Republican party and Conservatism for the sake of “winning” then it is you that loses regardless of the election outcome.

“Below is from George Washington’s Farewell Address!”

‘Tis a pity but the Republicans don’t believe in such antiquated ideals.

Mike Huckabee = Jimmah Dubya Clinton. ;^)

LOL! Not Jimmy...no way. Maybe Dubya Clinton...but we've done alright for the past 16 years with those two...haven't we?

Cheers!

Ask yourself, what would Fred do?

The answer is obvious.

and you STILL think your opinion on illegal immigration is the correct one?

Yeah slick, I do.

If these criminals were so great; Mexico would be building a wall to keep them in.

Mexico wants to purge them and you want them here.

I am right and you are wrong. So is Tinklebee.

Lots (not most) saying they will vote for Thompson or Hunter in November too, even if not the nominee.

They can do that, even if Romney is the nominee, which I hope. Thompson or Hunter might be VP selectee. Frankly, if I was Romney, I would go with Hunter. There would be at least an outside chance at California and Hunter would know the state’s issues. Tennessee would not be in doubt.

I agree that our agreement is of little consequence but since this is a discussion board...

Very well, then my point was that one can't expect Conservatives to stay in the Republican Party if it no longer stands for Conservatism...

I'd say that hasn't been my experience. There's been no shortage of Freepers spouting the "fire in the belly" line.

Normally I would say they were not Freepers, but I have noticed it as well. I usually say they are foolish enough to buy into the MSM reports that keep driving that false impression. Suckers (even some Freepers) take that crap in and eat it like honey.

Absolutely. But if Hunter is the nominee, he’s safe to vote for. Not the other RINO bozos, though.

It is impossible to do. If someone does not win the primaries he cannot be the nominee later on unless the winner of the primaries decides to drop out or God forbid he dies or gets incapacitated.

I won't vote for Romney just because Hunter is his VP... In fact, that would only leave me less likely to vote for Hunter next time around..
