As I posted earlier in the week, my son deploys in the morning to Camp Salerno Afghanistan.
He took an extra course that was preventing him from getting leave prior to his deployment from Fort Huachuca.
I was flying from Chicago back into the weekend ice-storm that is Kansas City when I decided to spend the whole weekend in airports to at least see him for a few hours.
I brought with me my 90 year old fathers copper faced pocket bible that he carried in europe during WWII. It had been given to him by his mother, my sons great grand mother and I had planned to bury my father with it.
This bible was on his dresser my entire life and I knew its importance and why these bibles had a metal cover.
I handed it to my son while recounting its history and told him it was his to carry as the current warrior in our family.
You all would have been proud of his solemn acceptance and thanks.
I sit now in the Tucson airport with my return delayed due to weather knowing I only sleep four hours tonight (even if I do get home) before I fly out again in the morning. I knew you all were those that I needed to share this with tonight.

Prayers for your Son.
It must have been very memorable passing the Bible to the next generation of warriors.
Will keep him in my daily prayers.
Prayers for safe travel as well for both of you.
I thought you were up mighty late...
Hugs ...
fatima...((HUGS))...thank you so much for reposting this.
Sat-Com Chris is one of our new heroes! We will honor and pray for him, as we do each of our heroes, each day as he carries out his mission.
