[I waited 45 seconds and actually posted something substantial--Ed.]
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. At least four people were shot outside of a Colorado Springs church on Sunday, but it was not immediately known whether the shootings were related to an earlier shooting about 70 miles away, authorities said.
I posted my thoughts in #1804.
Thanks thanks.
I shall; thanks for the idea. I don't know if there are any places around where I live...likely down south of me there may be (this is a rinky dink town I live in).
Yes. The parishioner prayed that the gunman find peace, and just a few minutes lare that's what happened.
Peace, as in R.I.P.
Understand.
Imagine that....we are strange creatures and He sent His only begotten Son to die for us. Now, how "strange" is that!
: )
Don't you have an after-school special to watch or something?
Much agree.
As tragic as it was to lose those two young girls in the van in the parking lot, it's a good thing the Ms. Assam took him out at great risk to herself and possibly others. This is the kind of thing you would think the police would rather not have. Once the police arrived, they *could* have made it worse, assessing the situation, set up command and control, may not have wanted to storm the place, looking for an opening, giving him time to take hostages and kill more, don't know what to do with the jammed gun.
Finally, it's good they had their own security there, and I don't know, but maybe they should have alerted the police so a couple cars could have been there watching the parking lot for *something*.
I'm not blaming anybody, it's just too bad they couldn't have pieced the whole thing together more quickly and avoided the second incident entirely. Maybe more will come out about it.
In the Omaha shooting, it sounds like it would have been harder to get to the perp if some private citizen had been there with a gun, being it was a no-gun zone plus it sounds like he more or less had the entire third-floor to himself, lessening the odds that someone could have taken him out were it possible rather than if he started shooting as soon as he got in the mall. He very likely could have killed many more than he did because of crowds and the surprise element.
yes...and an Amen to that one too :)
BTW, a good example is the pastor's statement just now on LKL, that the second service was over and there were "only" a few hundred people left on the campus. That doesn't change the basic story of almost any of the discussion so far, but most people have been talking, on these threads, as if it were a fact that there were 7,000 people on site. Just another little point about waiting for real facts to emerge.
Don’t expect a reply. Starviego got a well-deserved boot.
He certainly did!
The page says "related" like someone has directly related the medication to the event. No such thing happened of course.
You say that the drug companies have a huge profit that they're banking on. Which is true. But they have unlimited exposure in liability as well. If one of these cases was actually linked to the medication usage, there would be a windfall for everyone who'd taken an SSRI, SNRI or Tic Tac and subsequently yelled at their cat.
Secondly, the list was a lot shorter than I expected. If you compared that to a list of shootings, acts of violence, suicides by people who were diagnosed as depressed or bipolar or etc., who were not on medication I suspect the list would be much longer on the non-pharmocologically treated side. Which would kinda negate your point (though I doubt it would slow you down in the least).
That "troublesome" thought is that God is a worker of miracles. God can make the ill whole. God can bring peace to the disturbed. If that is hopelessly naive, then put me in that camp. Now, if I had a weapon and was able to use it, I'd be all for acting and praying at the same time. Which is what the lady did.
CindyDawg....it’s NEVER wrong to pray for someone, especially our “enemies”....as this is what Christ would always have us do.
Matthew 5:
You have heard that it was said, YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy. 44 But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?I'm just glad the Holy Spirit decided to take some action while others followed Christ's teachings and prayed.
