THANKS
for your wise exhortations.
Maybe I’ll grow up enough to take more of it to heart and action by the time I’m 80?
God have mercy! LOL.
From another thread here on FR
So, he worked on a YWAM trip, one of the girls killed at the church recently returned from a mission trip. My thoughts are being confirmed. The motive is going to get pedestrian in a hurry. Which will do nothing to diminish the horror of the event. It will slow down the media.
Ahh... OK. Thank you. :)
I’m on dialysis so it’s verboten for me to take. I used to take something for osteoporosis but it makes the blood thicker so my physician told me not to take it anymore. I have it in the hips. My spine is fine, thankfully.
and sometimes ya don’t...
The minister, in his Q & A at 0900, specifically stated that she was not on a YWAM mission but was on a church-sponsored mission.
And isn’t that the scary part???
marked for later...
It sure is, and probably done by someone who knew the people there. Very, very sad. Kinda makes you wonder who’s next.
Thanks Rick, I appreciate the information. Even for those of us following all the reports from various locations this is a hard one to pin facts down on... As you said — there is a lot of sketchy information out there right now.
I do know that feeling. Getting my name & other stuff posted shocked me enough to get me to change my attitude, but not before I’d contacted the police in a couple of different places. I’m sure there are files with my name & a “nuttier than a fruitcake” designation on them. LOL

Colorado Springs Police identified the gunman as 24-year-old Matthew J. Murray of Englewood,
How much effect does the violent and gruesome video games that young kids play factor in to these shooting en mass type killings?
Very interesting. Thanks for relaying that info. to this thread.
WARNING, SPECULATIONS AHEAD! ;)
It’s starting to look to me like this was a grudge of some sort. That the shooter most likely knew whom he was attacking and planned this well in advance. I wonder if he specifically targeted these girls and their family, or whether they happened to be the first group of people he came upon in the parking lot... It will be interesting to learn more about the shooter and any motive he may have had — whether there was a problem between himself and these young people, or whether he “snapped” and the object of his frustration was with the church and missionary group simply because of his prior involvement with them (i.e. had anti-Christian or anti-Missionary grudges in his head, which then got turned against the group he had contact with).
I wonder whether his involvement with the church was part of his planning, or whether he wanted to be involved and then became disenchanted in some way (i.e. maybe he didn’t get along with these people, or felt shunned — not that THEY shunned him, but maybe that’s how he saw it. Many times people with emotional problems will imagine all sorts of things when in a group of people — like people talking about them, or taking innocent comments personally, etc... After all, it’s clear this person was disturbed — people who are not don’t plan and execute plots of mass murder).
Thank you, RDTF.
Ahhhh well . . . the nutty label is almost a red badge of courage compliment for me.
But I still like to hold the jerks accountable who accuse me of being insane. Sheesh. And it’s usually those characters who are first to scream about rude, courteous etc.
but it won't be seen as a hate crime...
I honestly don’t think this has anything to do with the video games/violence on TV or in the media, or our world, etc... Literally MILLIONS of people play “violent” video games, and if the games themselves caused people to go off the deep end these incidents would be WAY more common than they are. The problem goes back still to people with emotional/mental disturbances. If this were not so, then we would’ve only seen these types of things in modern society (i.e. the last 20 years or so) and not before... If it were only video games and our world then how could one explain Al Capone???
I know people want to understand why these things happen in order to prevent it from happening in the future. However, blaming these individual’s actions on things such as video games, or even the medication they’re taking seems to me to be a way to explain away the fact that there are people in this world who commit these atrocities — even if they are NOT exposed to these things, nor are on medications.
if we want to bring religion into it, one could say that there are those who have evil in their hearts and/or are tricked into thinking that their actions can cause some sort of change... And, people with emotional and/or mental disturbances are more receptive to Satan’s trickery.
Just my thoughts. You of course are free to disagree.
I didn’t want to post the name - as google reprints everything. I didn’t want to leave myself open for a lawsuit from them. ;-)
BTW, you will have mail in about five minutes. ((((MS))))
I’ve not heard of or searched for a study that attempts to answer that question. It’s possible there’s one out there. It would be easier to find one that studies the correlation between teen violence and videogames, music.
