Lurker Bill, BufordP and I arrived at Westminster fresh from the corners at Olney about 20 minutes late. But that still gave us an hour and a half standing with Eagles and fellow FReepers PatrioticMarineMom and RockerMom2MyHero.
PatrioticMarineMom (the organizer of this Gathering/FReep) and RockerMom2MyHero (co-organizer) had already been there for about 25 minutes, getting honks, waves and cheers from passing supporters. And when we arrived, we received a warm welcome from the Westminster Eagles and the passing supporters.
The five of us received the honks, waves or shouts of support from almost every passing car. Being in the old town part of Westminster, there were a lot of shoppers who also thanked us for being there.
This week, because of the Christmas display and Santa Clause being where we normally stand, we got our permit at the main corner in the old town section. So we received double exposure, and double the honks and waves.
The moonbats were a no show today. Being "dedicated to their cause" challenged, they could only go to some event later in the day. They abandoned their normal anti-troop protest. In comparison, and humbly tooting our own horn, Lurker Bill and I were at 3 FReeps in less than 24 hours (Walter Reed Friday night, Olney, and then here), and BufordP who was at two in one day, Olney and here. All to support our troops who spend up to 15 months in Country. And also to help cover our troops' political a$$es in their absence.
The reception we all received was very up lifting. Westminster is one of the very conservative and patriotic places remaining in Maryland.
The big story of the day was the two University of Maryland, Baltimore College students. A little while after we arrived, we observed a guy dressed in black a little ways away. We were thinking that this guy was some how associated with Women in Black. He was on his cell phone and was walking up and down the street.
In fact he was, sort of. He had been duped by his liberal history teacher. But he soon turned the tables on the liberal teacher. He, Tom, came over and started talking to us, asking if we were the Women in Black people. His teacher told the class that part of their school assignment was to attend an 'activist' event and make a report. The teacher recommended activist event was the WIB protest in Westminster. But no one told the teacher that WIB were not going to be there this Saturday.
Tom soon asked when we'll be out next so that he could come stand with us. We told him he can stand with us now if we had time, pointing out the bags of signs. He had the time, grabbed a sign and stood with us.
Tom also informed us that even if WIB was there, he would have come over to our side once he realized what was happening. While not in service himself, he has several family members who are.
Soon Tom was talking to a passing driver. She was waving to him and soon came back, parking her car near us. She, Grace, was a class mate of Tom's who was also looking for the WIB protest. Being also supportive of our troops, she also joined us.
So the liberal teacher, trying to drum up support for WIB's anti-troop protest, instead gave us two more supporters.
Hey Brad Brown (leader of the Carroll County 'communist' Progressives and co-protester with WIB), how do you like them apples? Can't you get supporters without having liberal teachers bribing students?
To those who don't know Brad, he has really given PatrioticMarineMom and Eagles in general, a hard time on the GoE Board and in editorials in the local newspaper. Apparently he is afraid of some opposition. All PatrioticMarineMom wants to do is support her Marine son who is heading to Iraq early next year.
BELOW LEFT: BufordP, RockerMom2MyHero, PatrioticMarneMom and Lurker Bill. BELOW RIGHT: Tom and Grace, dressed for the WIB protest, instead join us. BufordP got a hearty laugh out of that.
BELOW: If Tom was a troll, he is a strange one. He happily agreed to have his picture taken with one of BufordP's famous signs berating the moonbats, if the moonbats had only showed up. PatrioticMarineMom in the back ground talks with some passer bys. RockerMom2MyHero is behind the sign holding the U.S. Flag while BufordP and Lurker Bill were further up the street, behind me. The police have this regulation about staying 10 feet apart. This actually helps us because then cars can better read our signs.
Toward the end of our Gathering, a wounded soldier walked up to us and thanked us for being there. In Iraq he had been shot in the head and survived. Now discharged, he is active in a local VFW. We thanked him for his service and gave him the web sites for GoE and FR.
After the Gathering, PatrioticMarineMom, RockerMom2MyHero, Lurker Bill and BufordP went to a local watering hole to further enjoy a successful Support Our Troops Rally.
The next Gathering and FReep is on Saturday, December 29, from 1 PM til 3 PM. PatrioticMarineMom and her son (who will be there with her) needs your support.
If you are coming from Virginia, the most direct route is take I-270 to MD. Rte. 27 towards Damascus. Stay on Rte. 27 all the way to Westminster. Take a right onto E. Main Street and we are a half block in, opposite the public library (50 E. Main Street for those using GPS).
There is public parking behind where we stand on Winters Alley if you can't park on Main Street.

I love to see the teacher reading their reports.
The easiest way, we've found, to drive the unwashed moonbats back to their gutters is to SHOW UP
And a good Freep was had by all.
The Eagles were there???? I would have thought Don Henley would have been more liberal. hehe
Thank you, thank you, and I also extend my gratitude to all of those who stood with you. God bless all of you.
I would love to hear back from the UMBC students to find out what grades they got on the report.
Thank you for the great post and I love the pictures.....
[Mr] T
As you say, just show up.
[Mr] T
Thanks. Can’t wait for Dec. 29. We’ll be back to our regular position.
[Mr] T
We are hoping the students login to FR and relate what the teacher did. It sounded like they will. Hopefully more later.
[Mr] T
Thanks. More to come.
[Mr] T
Game almost over. Go Eagles!!!!
[Mr] T
