As a former Marine, I got NO issues with how the DI’s treat recruits. It did not harm me my son or my wife.....this guy should get an award for DI of the year.....it sounds like more liberal crap to dismantle a great organization.

Sounds to me like it became an issue when he gave a recruit a black eye. He should have known not to leave any marks.

We’re racing for a fall that will make the fall of Rome look like a cake walk....

This coming election will serve as a brake or the accelerator...

As a former Marine this is so screwed up, Sounds like this DI is just getting the shaft.

However this statement brought back a memory which made me smile.

But Glass said he was only playing the role of the "drill instructor you hate," saying that was his job as his squad's junior instructor.

My DIs were Sgt. Houser and Cpl. Dubner and SSgt Olmstead was the Platoon Commander. Sgt Houser was a physical fitness freak but he was the "nice" DI and Cpl. Dubner was the hard a$$ or the "drill instructor you hate".

After about three weeks of boot SSgt Olmstead had our first platoon meeting in a informal sort of way as informal as it gets in bootcamp anyway. He went over several things about our training it lasted maybe 30 or 45 min.

He then asked if we had anything to say and a number of us told him we thought Cpl Dubner shouldn't be so hard on us LOL. The next day and for the rest of bootcamp Cpl Dubner was the alright DI and Sgt Houser was the harda$$. Of course Sgt Houser could run for several days straight and he would run us until some would literally become sick, we definitely came out on the short end of that one LOL.

Anyway it sucks that this DI is having to get caught up in this PC crap.

This swabbie has a huge amount of respect for Marines.

I have read many instances of WWII and Korea Marines who said the harsh training that they got in boot camp made a big difference in how they survived in the most difficult of places like Peleliu and Chosin.

This is not to condone beating the crap out of a recruit, but...harsh treatment as a boot did serve a purpose, apparently.

I am afraid the liberalism has infiltrated the military and politicized it, via the college educated officers, especially the legal branch.

Witnesses testified Glass routinely stomped on recruits' toiletry kits, breaking razors and soap containers for minor infractions like not displaying name tags properly. They also said Glass and another drill instructor forced them after meals to down liters of water in a ritual known as "waterbowling," an act banned by the Marine Corps' standard operations procedure manual.

Our DIs would toss the squadbay during Phase 1, but I don't recall any malicious destruction of property. And I've never heard of waterbowling. Must be something new to simulate waterboarding. But they did kick some serious ass if you really screwed up.

This split tail has no business commanding a MCRD.
