Sounds to me like it became an issue when he gave a recruit a black eye. He should have known not to leave any marks.

Yeah. You don’t have to strike a recruit to instill discipline. Making someone run around the grinder with their piece held over their head for a while works pretty good. Makes ‘em stronger too.
