The only people who would be hurt by abandoning the Kyoto Protocol would be several thousand people who make a living attending conferences on global warming.
Global warming is really all about money, whether domestic taxation on fuels and lifestyles of the citizenry for political control or international organizations taxing the US economy for foreign economic advantage in the global market.

Sometimes we can find quotes that reveal their true goals :
” We’ve got to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing — in terms of economic socialism and environmental policy.”
- Timothy Wirth, former U.S. Senator (D-Colorado)

Timothy E. Wirth (b. September 22, 1939) is a former United States Senator from Colorado. Wirth, a Democrat, was a member of the House from 1975 to 1987 and was elected to the Senate in 1986, serving one term there before stepping down. He was Undersecretary of State for Global Affairs during the Clinton Administration.
In the State Department, he worked with Vice President Al Gore on global environmental and population issues, supporting the administration's views on global warming . A supporter of the proposed Kyoto Protocol, Wirth announced the U.S.'s commitment to legally binding limits on greenhouse gas emissions.

Legally binding? There is the idea that treaties are binding, no matter what. This is disputed.

Hilarious!!!
I hate to admit how old I am, but I remember all the doom and gloom about the gas pipeline in Alaska “destroying” the caribou herd.

Heh heh heh.....No Hell's fire flames from me, Preacher. I just published Wirth's position from an article in WikiPedia.
On the subject of treaties though, why do mutual defense treaties work well whereas peace treaties or truces do not?
The Kyoto Treaty isn't really in our best interest and ranks up there with peace treaties in insincerity and effectiveness in promoting beneficial change.

Lets go with this scenario....a massive earthquath does hit Bali before the end of this conference. A tsunami also pushes up six feet of water on the shore. Death and destruction everywhere...no help from the Bali police or national guard. The only nation capable of helping them....the might US of A. So GW orders immediate assistance to Bali. The key thing...we don’t immediately evacuate the attendees. We bring in tents and food, with lots of medical personnel...and lots of media folks to take pictures of the attendees who are forced to accept MRE’s from American GI’s. After two weeks of this...then we take the idiots...by boat...all the way to San Diego. We fly GW in on the day before they leave to survey the damage and shake hands...and let GW smile in front of the camera and say...its good that Bali and the environmentalists have such a good friend such as America.

It’s only fair. Have you ever noticed that a lot of the folks who believe in global warming claim no religious affiliation? Personally I think God is having fun with global warming advocates by dumping heaps of snow on their conferences (the so-called “Gore Effect”). Just the other day I lamented in my blog that the environmentalists were having their conference/vacation on an island near the equator, to keep that from happening. Well, this shows that the Good Lord has other “acts of God” up His sleeve.
