That’s going to leave a large void in a lot of small cities. Best Buy and Circuit City don’t cut it for components or sofwtare selection.
Hm, one is compelled to wonder if there will be any outstanding bargains to be had during the sell-off period. . .
Looks like my personal boycott worked!

It opens a huge door for Fry’s.
It would have to be discounted pretty significantly to even consider it.
You too?
BFD. In the Chicago ‘burbs, they were just a retail outlet. None of their salespeople knew anything about the software or hardware products. It was a like a Toys ‘R Us, but you had to know what you wanted BEFORE you went in because the help was, well,,,no help at all.
Just my opinion of course.
ditto - “liquidation sale”
Wow, they lasted about 23yrs. I remember the first one in Dallas/Addison, think it was called SoftWarehouse or something like that.
Whoa! Does this mean dirt cheap quad-core machine time?
I just got done upgrading to an Asus dual 370 PIII server.
CompUSA : Bad service
Fry's : Bad service with white shirts and dark ties.
We have Comp-USA, but I would be thrilled to get Fry’s in its place.
Go Fry’s!
There are only a few other options, because Comp-USA never has what we need and Best Buy has terrible customer service so we never shop there at all.

Why were you boycotting them? The Mexican?
Just Tuesday, I bought a copy of “Hellsgate” there.
Yeah, I remember that one too and had forgotten it was the first one. It was on Marsh Lane, north of Beltline as I recall.
Bad Service is equally applicable across all the stores. LOL!
The Mr. Slim?
Highly doubt it. I went to a few of their “Store Closing” blowout, price slashing, events.
Their reduced, blowout, slashed prices were a few pennies under what MSRP is for the rest of the world. I was pretty amazed that their stated MSRPs were actually inflated.
