The law in most states does permit you to protect yourself.

The law does not permit you to strike a child. Self defense trumps laws concerning corporal punishment. And any DA or politician who thinks that nine thugs should be allowed to beat or murder someone unmolested simply due their age needs to be removed from office post haste.

Depends how define child. I have had to look up to talk to some 14y/o and I am of average build. Forfeiting your right to self protection when attacked by a pack of feral beasts is not any way to stay alive. I doubt these were some overgrown toddlers on their way home from day care. I will take care me and mine worry about the consequences later.

Bullshit, you may defend yourself, some 7th graders are 150 lbs + and 5’6” +...I had a similar experience on the Lexington line in NYC...they are untouchable until they tough you...Junior found that out after I banged his head against the door on the subway car...the conductor (black) told him, “man only defending himself, move along”

Then, in this case, the law is an ass. Besides that, these creatures hardly qualify as children, as far as I'm concerned. They've crossed the line to thug.

The law does not permit you to abuse a child. Striking a child (or anyone else) in legitimate self defense is permissible in every jurisdiction with which I am familiar.
