Considering the state of the Public Education system, these 7th graders were probably in their mid-teens, thus almsot fully grown.

I wouldn’t want to have to take on 9 yutes from the ‘hood.

Depends how define child. I have had to look up to talk to some 14y/o and I am of average build. Forfeiting your right to self protection when attacked by a pack of feral beasts is not any way to stay alive. I doubt these were some overgrown toddlers on their way home from day care. Bullshit, you may defend yourself, some 7th graders are 150 lbs + and 5’6” +...I had a similar experience on the Lexington line in NYC...they are untouchable until they tough you...Junior found that out after I banged his head against the door on the subway car...the conductor (black) told him, “man only defending himself, move along”

9 is a lot of opponents, even if they're smaller and weaker. Still, I'd have more respect for the guy is he had at least kicked the hell out of a couple of them before being beaten himself. I sure as hell would've tried em out, anyway.
