As many recognize, the latest NIE on Irans nuclear weapons program directly contradicts what the U.S. Intelligence Community was saying just two years previously. And it appears that this about-face was very recent. How recent?
Consider that on July 11, 2007, roughly four or so months prior to the most recent NIEs publication, Deputy Director of Analysis Thomas Fingar gave the following testimony before the House Armed Services Committee (emphasis added):
Iran and North Korea are the states of most concern to us. The United States concerns about Iran are shared by many nations, including many of Irans neighbors. Iran is continuing to pursue uranium enrichment and has shown more interest in protracting negotiations and working to delay and diminish the impact of UNSC sanctions than in reaching an acceptable diplomatic solution. We assess that Tehran is determined to develop nuclear weapons--despite its international obligations and international pressure. This is a grave concern to the other countries in the region whose security would be threatened should Iran acquire nuclear weapons.
This paragraph appeared under the subheading: "Iran Assessed As Determined to Develop Nuclear Weapons." And the entirety of Fingars 22-page testimony was labeled "Information as of July 11, 2007." No part of it is consistent with the latest NIE, in which our spooks tell us Iran suspended its covert nuclear weapons program in 2003 "primarily in response to international pressure" and they "do not know whether (Iran) currently intends to develop nuclear weapons."
The inconsistencies are more troubling when we realize that, according to the Wall Street Journal, Thomas Fingar is one of the three officials who were responsible for crafting the latest NIE. The Journal cites "an intelligence source" as describing Fingar and his two colleagues as "hyper-partisan anti-Bush officials."

And Dubya still maintains a winning attitude and has performed phenomenally with true conviction.
The only conviction for what is best for us in the USA that has been shown.
I tend to buy your analysis of this report. It rings more true than the report does.
I agree, after reading this book I wondered why we even have a CIA. Rummy went around them and apparently formed his own intel group.
God bless President Bush and our brave troops.
I thought the same in my youth, that the communist infiltration bit was way overdone, and thought the loyalty oaths I was required to sign to get jobs were silly.
I still think loyalty oaths are silly, but the Verona information from the 1990's after the fall of the Soviet Union indicated that the commies and their sympathizers were running rampant in our government just like the "Chicken Littles" had tried to warn us.
Now I think you are the one who is a bit naive not to realize how dedicated the lefties are to their cause of supplanting the U.S. with a socialist/communist government.
I recommend you read Radical Son by David Horowitz and Reagan's War by Peter Schweizer to get a more sober view of what has been going on.
Great post. The dumbest statement in American politics is “Lame Duck President”. The President of the US is the most powerful man in the world and he can do what ever he wants with the powers given to him by the Constitution until his last second in office. President Bush is a great leader and he has proved it in his stand to the traitors and that is why we are winning the war in Iraq. He will do the right thing regarding the terrorist regime in Iran and their nuclear program. In fact he told the world yesterday and today that nothing has changed his mind on what he thinks about the great danger of Iran nuclear program, that they must not have nuclear weapons and that they must stop enriching uranium the main ingredient to make the nukes. He is saying now what he said in the past.
Ditto.
Thank you Joe for your strong support for President Bush. I agree with all you said, wish I could say it just half as good as you.
Just stating the truth my FRiend. It is very unfortunate that some on this forum want to attack the President for everything under the sun and lie about his record and actions.
And this would be different from the 'righties' doing the same how again? It wasn't a Democratic Congress nor President that passed NCLB or the Prescription drug plan. It wasn't a Democratic Congress nor President that passed the 'patriot' act. No, the Republicans (at least the establishment ones) are just as bad as Democrats. And I have read Horowitz's ramblings in the past. The absolute leaps of logic in his portrayal of foreign policy is disturbing. I suppose that's why he had to remove so many colleges from his 'nationwide' tour listing huh?
What is happening to us and to our country and being allowed to happen to us vy our head in the sand denail of Islamic reality is perhaps personified by two current articlles at the top on
Humorous: Thousands of Words Said in Cartoon Graphics

Deadly serious: Thousands of Words Said in Pictures
Note: a video at the end is very graphic but so indicative of how the populace is beginning to crack mentally
I agree. The past 7 years have been nothing more than an intermission in the middle of the Clintons' term. That's all this has been about.
It's a crock-of-sh!t alright and definitely an attempt to endanger the USA and the world. And just for short-term, political gain. But it's gonna fail!
President Bush has not done everything I wanted him to do, i.e. not arming Airline Pilots after 9/11 and pushing for the Shamnesty idiocy, but he has been steadfast in pursuing victory over terrorism in Afghanistan and Iraq! No matter how hard the dimocRATS tried to force defeat in Iraq, he has refused to concede, and changed our strategies until victory was achieved.
Our President identified the 'Axis-of-Evil' as Iraq, Iran, and North Korea. That is now proven to be true. Hussien, (Sadamm, not Obama) is dead and Iraq is now learning to be a Democracy of sorts. Nork nuke material is glowing in Syria, and Iran is finishing building their first home-made A-Bomb, and probably intends to resurrect the old Soviet nuke-stuff they got after the collapse.
It doesn't matter what Fingar , the 'NIE', or anyone else says, President Bush is going to finish the job in Iran. He said he would, and I believe him. The traitorous dimocRATS have tried everything to make him ineffective, and he's beaten them every time!
Iran is going to get blasted in several ways, and the attacking Forces will try to minimize collateral damage, but their Nuclear Facilities will be history. Any time now is a good time .................................. FRegards
Damn, why can't we hang traitors anymore?
Yes, you don’t want to think your country’s intelligence people could mix politics and security into an incomprehensible hash. You don’t want to think it because you can’t imagine doing such a thing yourself.
More than half the input comes from Defense intelligence - 9 of 15 votes I think...
18 posts to get to “Bush’s fault!”
He’d love to fire them, but there have to be better people to take their places, and there isn’t anyone. This has been our greatest weakness for years. Channeling Rummy: You go to war with the intelligence people you have.
“How about the possibility it may have been outsourced to say..Syria, and that was what was blown up in September by Israel?”
Possible. I think the more likely answer to the Syrian site is, North Korea sold Syria a nuke bomb kit (some assembly required), and Syria didn’t figure out the directions fast enough. Iran is walking the dual-use line the Saddam tried in the 90s. Like the crazy neighbor building pipe bombs in his garage for “blowing up stumps.”
What’s worse is a look at for whom they are doing it. I mean Islam but tomorrow I thnk AntiMullah is posting a video called and tehn God created Woman. Amusing.
Well done Fars.
