RIVERDALE, Ga. A transgender city council member lost a re-election bid in a runoff Tuesday after a lawsuit that claimed she tried to fool voters by running as a woman. Michelle Bruce said that even though a judge dismissed the lawsuit the day before the vote, the suit served its intended purpose. "It was a personal attack," said Bruce, who was seeking a second term. "It was aimed at getting me out." Bruce got 223 votes, compared to 308 votes for Wayne Hall, election returns showed. Bruce, 46, landed one of Riverdale's four council seats in 2003 after running unopposed. She was believed to be the state's first transgender politician. She has declined to say if she had surgery to change her gender. Bruce captured 312 votes in the Nov. 6 election, not enough to avoid a runoff against Wayne Hall, who earned 202 votes. Third-place finisher Georgia Fuller, who collected 171 votes, filed a lawsuit. The complaint, identifying Bruce as "Michael Bruce," claimed she misled voters by identifying herself as a female and asked a judge to rule the vote results invalid and order another general election. Fuller's attorney, Mike King, said at the time the lawsuit was filed that the female name gave Bruce an "unfair advantage" because the town's voters tend to vote for females particularly incumbents. King could not be reached for comment Tuesday night

EW!
May he is a “she-man”. A woman from the wasit up and a male from the waist down? If you announce this issue then you owe it to folks to tell them the whole story.
a little scary..yes?
No trick or treating at her/his house!
All is not lost. Now she can become a pastor in the United Methodist Church. At least in the Baltimore-Washington Conference.
Never fails to amaze me the people who want to inhabit a public office who then cry about their obvious piccadilos being exposed to the public.
Gee whiz, y'think?
They couldn't possibly have changed everything, Mrss.
...like your brain. :o)
Wow, attack of the ugly she zombies.
Is she dating Archie or Veronica?
I honestly wouldn’t have a problem with a transgender person if they were open and honest about it.
However if you end up with a “discovery” process that involves them acting in a duplicitous nature? What are you really left to assume? What else are they hiding?
If you’re gay, I don’t care. If you like to dress as a woman, I don’t care. Be honest about it and if your skills and abilities measure up I have no issues.
Thing that bothers me is that these freaks want me to pay for their confused perversion with my tax funds.
Have it lopped off and sewn up like a catchers mit and have me pay for it?
B.S.
Now Wayne, dontcha go gettin’ all girly on us now. Or we’ll throw you out like what’s-her-name!
What next?.....”I feel comfortable running for office as a man for five years then I’ll probably flop back to a women or is there a trannie catagory for office?
Guilty! Oh so very guilty.
Good one Bruce.
You know, just a pet peeve of mine but when and why did we just accept the use of the word 'gender' when the proper english word is sex? From winkapedia:
The usage of gender in the context of grammatical distinctions is a specific and technical usage. However, in English, the word became attested more widely in the context of grammar, than in making sexual distinctions. It seems to have just crept into the usage as of late and is just one of those things that bothers me whenever I see it. I guess I should just get used to it, but... oh, well. This was noted in OED1, prompting Henry Watson Fowler to recommend this usage as the primary and preferable meaning of gender in English. "Gender ... is a grammatical term only. To talk of persons ... of the masculine or feminine g[ender], meaning of the male or female sex, is either a jocularity (permissible or not according to context) or a blunder."[5]
Guilty!!
well someone was going to say it.
