It seems that Gay Keith, the Clinton plant, was not a Brigadier General and he served only in the reserves. I received this note from retired Brigadier General William Becker:

IN SPITE OF MY CURRENT DISTRACTIONS AT HOME I AM FORCED TO ENTER THE PUBLIC ARENA TO EXPRESS MY OUTRAGE AT THE CURRENT REPUBLICAN DEBATE AS MANAGED BY CNN.

GAY KEITH IS NOT A BRIGADIER GENERAL. HE IS NOT EVEN AN ACTIVE DUTY RETIRED ARMY OFFICER. HE SPENT HIS YEARS AS A RESERVIST SOLELY IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA MILITARY BUREAUCRACY. HIS BIO IS PUBLISHED IN THE GAY ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO VOIDING THE "DON'T ASK DON'T TELL" POLICY.

FOR DETAILS. YOU MUST NOTE THAT KERR WAS RETIRED FROM THE INACTIVE ARMY RESERVES IN THE GRADE OF COLONEL. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A FEW YEARS SERVED ON ACTIVE DUTY AS A LIEUTENANT HIS ENTIRE SERVICE WAS IN THE RESERVES IN CALIFORNIA. HE WAS PLACED IN RETIRED RESERVE STATUS WITH THE CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD RESERVES AND PROMOTED TO BRIGADIER GENERAL IN THAT FEDERALLY UNRECOGNIZED STATUS.

THIS IS CONSIDERED AN "HONORARY" TITLE SIMILAR TO THE PHD AWARDED BY UNIVERSITIES AS HONORARIUM. WE WOULD NEVER REFER TO SUCH AWARDEES AS "DOCTOR". IT IS ALSO NOTEWORTHY THAT HE WAS A GRADUATE OF UC BERKELEY AND

SERVED AS AN INSTRUCTOR IN ACADEMIA. HE HAS NO COMBAT EXPERIENCE DURING HIS 43 YEARS OF "SERVICE" AND IT IS A DISGRACE FOR HIM TO BE ASSOCIATED BY THE MEDIA WITH THE ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY!!!!

THANKS FOR LISTENING TO THE VOICE OF WRATH OF THIS OLD MILITARY AVIATOR. BRIGADIER GENERAL BILL BECKER UNITED STATES AIR FORCE, RETIRED COMBAT VETERAN WWII, KOREA, VIETNAM

This guy could almost qualify for the ‘phony soldier’ label.

He’s misrepresenting his background, and prominently featured the schools from which he graduated (Army War College, etc.).

Of course, any attacks on “General” Kerr may be characterized as ‘swift boating.’

I was wondering if the three tour combat vet (alleged) Marine who was with his mommie at the Neveda Demo Commie Debate was a phoeny as well?

Funny how all these planted zeros keep turning into Zeros.

Resepctfully,

I had heard that at one time (about 20 years ago), those two states (southern states, I think) had elected an E-6 and an E-4 for Adjutant General. Those AGs wore the Brigadier General stars within their states, but had to wear their enlisted ranks outside the state. I can’t prove that story, but it was told to me by my former guard supervisor, who would be one to trust.

I think you are correct. I don't remember which state did that, but there was an E-4 who was named to be the Adjutant General for the state. I remember hearing about the fuss at National Guard Bureau (NGB) when that kid showed up. Apparently, he was a buddy of the governor from the state.

After that little ordeal, NGB changed the requirements for Adjutant General appointments. All future nominees had to be Field Grade Officers with a certain number of years service. BTW, state Adjutant Generals can now be LT General within their state. If they leave the state, they have to revert to MG rank.

It’s real. I think “California General” should enter the English lexicon & be on par with “Kentucky Colonel”.

Is there something wrong with the being in the Reserves.?

NOPE... in fact, I AM A RESERVE SOLDIER !! -- The difference is when I talk to people I let them KNOW this.... So to answer your question, there is nothing wrong with being in the reserves, but YES there is a difference..

I knew it. He spent all of his time in the rear.

Now that's funny. Or, somebody's rear.

You know, out of pure competitive glee the other networks ought to be beating CNN to a pulp over this. That they are silent indicates just how much is wrong with our "free press" - beating the Republicans and making sure the apparatus of handing out government patronage is returned to Democrat control is more important to liberal-leaning network executives than the health of their own businesses. In their hubris they think they are actually a part of government, and have a responsibility to influence political outcomes.

Stockholders ought to be voting "NO" on everything those networks' parent company boards propose until this situation is straightened out.

How insulting to members of the Reserve and National Guard! My brother left the Army as a Major, but at that time joined the Nat Guard where he was promoted to Lt Col. He has been recalled to active duty. He is a Lt Col stationed at Cent Com.

Exactly Mr. Jeeves.

From FReeper conservitism_IS_compassion....

“First, assuming that you are objective is the very essence of subjectivity. Second, journalism claims to be not only objective but important, and yet journalism does not do things but only criticizes those who do. Theodore Roosevelt said that “It is not the critic who counts . . . the credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena . . .” But journalism not only criticizes the doer, it praises the fellow critic by applying the positive labels “liberal” and “progressive” to him.
And third, of course, is the historical record of cases where journalism has promoted - often, continues to promote - notions which are provably false. It was patent from the beginning that Michael Nifong was abusing his office when he tried the Crystal Mangum charges in the newspaper. It was patent from the moment that Dan Rather made his “Killian memos” charges that, having only copies and not originals of the putative memos, and no chain of custody for them, CBS could not possibly know that the “memos” were authentic - and it was very quickly demonstrated that it was extremely improbable that the documents had been produced on a machine which even existed at the time the “memo” putatively were written. And on and on; one could go down the list of charges of bias which Ann Coulter lays and documents in Slander.

In sum, leftism is simply criticism and second guessing of the doer by those who take no responsibilty for results. It is supported by the propaganda power of a monopolistic news industry which selectively throws data at us in a confusing cloud to obscure the lack of evidence for the wisdom of its worldview, and is comfortable making baseless ad hominum arguments. Journalism as we know it is inherently leftist - and leftism is sophistry.”

Of course he was a general. Colonel Sanders worked for him.

And one of his subordinates, Captain Jonathan S. Tuttle, spoke very highly of him.
