CNN Reporter: Stacked GOP Debate 'Inexcusable'
Jeff Gannon - A Voice of the New Media ^ | 12/3/2007 | Jeff Gannon

CNN's chief national correspondent John King criticized his network's handing of the Republican YouTube debate that critics have called "Debate-gate" because at least ten of the supposed "undecided Republican voters" submitting video questions turned out to be Democratic activists. Responding to a question from the audience at a National Press Club program about media coverage of the 2008 presidential election Monday night, King admitted that "fundamental journalism mistakes" were made in the vetting process.

King called the mistakes "inexcusable" and said that the debacle "should not have happened." So far, CNN has not announced any investigation of the circumstances surrounding controversy or disciplinary action against those responsible for organizing the debate.

“They sure do pull stupid stuff - we could list the failures easily.”

They do and we could.

I could handle it if they simply held some core beliefs that were contrary to mine - not too many, mind you. Instead they enjoy being flattered by Hollywood and the lefties in the press, they may believe it will win the day at the polls and in the end they get kicked in the teeth. I’m tired of them being nice to all the wrong people.

“How come we can understand that youtube and CNN do not play fair”

Republicans do know this, but they keep repeating the same behavior, maybe expecting a different result. I guess they feel like they can’t give up the forum.

Don’t know if you saw it, but Duncan Hunter sent an open letter to Hilary Clinton, requesting that they continue to send plants. Cute response, after the fact. But i’d really prefer that they simply not put their leg in the trap in the first place.

“When I say support the GOP - I mean as opposed to the democrats.”

It would be very difficult for me to vote Dem. if they were speaking to my conservative values I would have to say that I probably would not be able to believe they would implement such policies. While the GOP could use a spinal infusion at times, the Democrats have been notorious liars in many regards.

William Donald Schaffer was the last Democrat that I voted for. He was an old school Democrat in many ways, socially responsible and socially conservative in some ways, too. He endorsed Bush 41 in ‘92 and became persona non grata in Clinton’s party. The guy was also was a bit of a nutter in that he just didn’t care what people thought about him. He was ousted as state comptroller last year while in his 80’s, I believe?

I sure wish that he was overseeing the state budget now.
