CNN's chief national correspondent John King criticized his network's handing of the Republican YouTube debate that critics have called "Debate-gate" because at least ten of the supposed "undecided Republican voters" submitting video questions turned out to be Democratic activists. Responding to a question from the audience at a National Press Club program about media coverage of the 2008 presidential election Monday night, King admitted that "fundamental journalism mistakes" were made in the vetting process.
King called the mistakes "inexcusable" and said that the debacle "should not have happened." So far, CNN has not announced any investigation of the circumstances surrounding controversy or disciplinary action against those responsible for organizing the debate.
Blood in the water.
It looks like John King didn’t get the memo...
Frankly I don’t care.
The GOP should stop whining about this and grow up.
They already knew what a cess-pool the CNN staff were going into this.
They should have been ready for anything.
Get used to it it ain’t going to get any better.
Having said all that, I thought they did a fine job.
And I especially like the fact that the truth about Rudy’s and Mitt’s pasts were aired on a national scale.
We need more of this so that pretenders and johnnie-come-latelys to the conservative cause are unmasked and removed from the race.
Why should they investigate anything? Everyone there knows what happened and somebody senior approved of it. The only part they weren't expecting was getting caught so easily.
“So far, CNN has not announced any investigation of the circumstances surrounding controversy or disciplinary action against those responsible for organizing the debate.”
Why should they, the SHEEPLE will vote for who ever CNNabcnbccbsmsnbc tells them to. Unfortunately, 50% of America are sheeple, scary, isn’t it?!
Mistakes were made, yada yada yada.
Sound familiar? What next? 100,000 new police, 20 million new jobs....typical clinton speak.
I think the point is not to get used to it, but to level the playing field. Do you want CNN to softball Hillary into the White House?
can’t wait til the next one..
Yeah, sure, John. CYA. Bet he doesn’t stop lying.
GOP should one up CNN and the softball treatment they give to Dems... handle any and all questions during the debates and show the mettle in spite of the dirty manipulations of the media....rise above it all GOP. Let America see the phonies for who they are...remain true and on message.
Hey, obvious troll newbie: You condone FRAUD in supposedly above-board political debates? Even if they are on CNN?
I’m really getting tired of the shills around here.
The GOP candidates need to be prepared and realize that every time they put themselves in hostile territory everything possible will be done to trip them up.
If they really want to win they will unabashedly promote and speak the conservative message.
This will make better candidates of them all.
John King really likes Bush and the Pubbies. He was one of the very few “media-types” invited to accompany the Prez on his secret trip to Iraq some months ago.
“Sound familiar? What next? 100,000 new police, 20 million new jobs....typical clinton speak”
You of all FReepers! You left out “Do it for the children”.
The issue here isn't a lack of vetting. Out of 5,000 questions submitted, what are the odds that, through pure chance and ignorance, ten would be selected from Democratic party operatives? That is the question that needs answering.
The reason why you're seeing people like King and Cooper speak out against CNN's "vetting" is because it's a smokescreen. CNN's producers couldn't have selected that many planted questions by accident. It could only have happened deliberately. They want you to believe they're idiots, because that's better than the truth, that they're perfidious betrayers of the public's trust.
They all were.
lol
I also forgot, after they deny delay deny delay-the famous....”thats old news”.
