Reid pushes back on Iraq optimism ('Surge not working')
The Politico ^ | Dec. 3, 2007 | Martin Kady II

Posted on 12/03/2007 12:05:57 PM PST by navyguy

Democrats are increasingly bailing on their previously held view that the troop surge in Iraq has been a "failure," but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid isn't ready to jump on the bandwagon with other Democrats who say the surge has worked.

The Senate re-opened for business on Monday after a two-week Thanksgiving break, during which key Democrats traveled to Iraq and declared that the surge is working, at least from a security and military perspective. Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.), one the top war critics, stunned fellow Democrats late last week with his statement that "the surge is working," even though he added that political reconciliation has been lagging. Murtha's view was backed by Rep. Norm Dicks (D-Wash.), who also said the surge worked after he returned from Iraq.

But Reid, in a Monday press conference, ceded no ground.

"The surge hasn't accomplished its goals," Reid said. "... We're involved, still, in an intractable civil war."

Can we all take up a collection to buy Harry a short wave radio? That way he can radio a message to us when he's ready to re-enter the earths atmosphere.

Dingy Harry is one of the stupidest people ever to become Senate Majority Leader. That's not a compliment.

No there isn’t any term limits to stupidity. Nor to the stupidity level of the voters for putting the likes of Harry “failure” Reid in office time after time.

Intractable civil war? Because they haven’t fully reconciled on the political front?

OK...

Then I say we are in an intractable civil war in the U.S. That makes Dingy Harry an “enemy combatant.”

Tim Russert on Sunday asked Senator Web if the surge was working. The Senator spent 4 or more minutes blathering about Iran, Turkey, the Kurds, everything but whether the surge was working.

The Democrats are terrified of good news. They sound a broken record run backwards. They can't hear the real message. A disgronificator is available from Rush Limbaugh and getting one to play it forwards would be too much for them.

But I thought that the 'Rats were still in session, busy at work as usual, even if there was only one rat there at any one moment. Harry's orders.

No, but then one couldn't expect the Founding Fathers to have thought of everything. After all the Democrap party didn't exist then.

The surge may have not cured Obesity, Aids, or the Common Cold but it sure cured Al Qaeda.

Whoever came up with the term “Invested in defeat” needs to get a medal. It’s such a perfect description.

Unfortunately, Harry isn’t smart enough to get rid of his investments when they’re on the way down. He’ll ride this to the very bottom, and Hillary winning is his only safety net.
