SMITHDALE --A Mississippian who lost both legs in Iraq has married his girlfriend in a hospital-room ceremony.
Army Spec. Josh A. Wells, 21, married Brandi M. Clark, 19, in a Nov. 20 ceremony at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
Wells was injured in a Nov. 2 attack on the Stryker Light Armored Vehicle he was driving.
The couple dated throughout Wells' previous deployment to Germany and were engaged in July, with a plan to marry upon his return from an 18-month tour of duty in Iraq.

Congratulations! So happy for the both of you.
That’s a very heartwarming story.
May God’s blessings shine on this couple.
Best wishes!
He’s right, Brandi! Do let me hear from you and - if it is within my ability - I will deliver!
As soon as I post this, I am going to the BAMC website and calling an ACC volunteer. They will tell me what I can do for Josh...
Thanks for the ping to this remarkable story, Glock!
AMEN!!!
Merry Christmas, and God bless. : )
My deepest appreciation to your son, Don-o. I'll keep this new Marine in my prayers, along with you and Mrs. Don-o, and the family.
I'm just in awe of our young American patriots, and so very thankful.
Just had an opportunity to share your story with my husband, and honey, I’ve gotta say that you sure know how to melt hearts ‘til eyes run over! ; )
He sends his congratulations, appreciation, and best wishes to y’all.
May God Bless both of you and your marriage.

Josh Wells Is Role Model To Us All
We were all introduced to Josh Wells as he was in route to Germany a few weeks ago just after an EFP had claimed both his legs. 4 EFPs hit his vehicle. One went inches behind him, one inches under him, and one right in front of him. The one in front of him tore his name patch on his uniform. The only one that hit him was the one that got his legs. God was watching over him!!! He also had his little bible in his pants pocket that he carried everywhere. He made his way to a hospital in San Antonio, TX where continued to follow his progress through several surgeries and the loss of more of his legs. A friend of a friend, of a friend had emailed one of our members asking that we put him on our prayer list. We did, but our member back tracked the emails and was put in contact with his step-mother who has given us first hand updates and the picture below. Josh is a very special young soldier. His attitude and the smile on his face tells us he is not going to let this incident slow him down. That smile seems to say, I have the world by the tail and there are great things ahead for me! One of those great things is his new bride, Brandi. He and Brandi were married on November 20th. Josh has been released from the hospital and is now in a room in the Hospital campus. He has a long road of therapy and rehab but will have his wife at his side. His step-mother says he has been receiving a lot of mail from OTY. She says he cherishes everyone. She says he reads each one aloud. We need to continue our prayers for him along with the cards and letters to he and Brandi along with our Congratulations and Best Wishes for a long and happy life together. His dad is with him and said they were able to go to the PX to buy some things Josh needed and he had to run to keep up with him in his chair. Josh is a great example to all of us. Nothing is going to stop this young man. God has something very special for him in the future.

Thanks for sharing the article and the address...Merry Christmas to y’all!!
Josh called me today! I chose that time to check the mail in the basement at my office, without taking my phone, but I hope he will call me again after his appointment, so I can hear any special wants or needs.
Best wishes to all!
I JUST TALKED WITH SPEC. WELLS! LISTEN UP FREEPERS!
He was so sweet and so gracious! Brandi and her parents are driving and are due in town tomorrow. I have asked him to make sure they keep my number and call if there is anything they need. I want to be sure they have someone here locally who can help.
Josh tells me they are on a shortlist to obtain housing but he will be at the address Brandi gave us for awhile.
FReepers, let’s brainstorm: would any of you support the concept of a special Bank of America account set up for them?
Um...does it have to be Bank of America?
I would support a special account set up for this brave man/hero and his wife.
welcome to Free Republic! I just came across this thread and your posts today.
Many thanks to your husband for his service to our country.
Good Luck in your new married life--may your days together be long and happy on this earth.
