That’s how Communists all over the world operate, especially here in the U.S. (yes, Hillary, I’M POINTING AT YOU). They NEVER, EVER let on to what their endgame is; they’re smart enough to boil the frog slowly...

Now he’s praising simon bolivar a lot.

“lets understand eachother, walk hand in hand, our campaign against imperialists like the north americans”

(Holding up his proposal and the constitution)

“we couldn’t do it this time, but i still have it”

“Bolivar believed in equality”

He’s reading bolivar quotes now, ha, just noticed there’s a big picture of bolivar behind him. That makes sense, i guess.

“Relax, merry christmas, thanks, onward to victory always”

And he’s gone.

" the CIA, NSA, etc. stole it."

No time to feel relief - he has at least 5 years to prepare the way for a new referendum, or maybe some entirely different way of extending his rule..... state of emergency, coup d’etat, other ways to exercise power “at the barrel of a gun”..... No way will a commie turd like Chavez let this moment end his powerlust.

Nite, all, tell your friends in Venezuela to stay safe. The beatings, harrassment, and arrests will begin tomorrow. Hugo ain’t done until he’s at room temperature.

Bolivar idolized George Washington was a friend of Lafayette and the goal of his campaigns was to create a republic like the United States. He would have shot Chavez on sight.

I predict he will pull a Gore and scream ‘’Every vote must count’’ then proceed to have a recount and demand ‘’his people’’ eat every vote thats against him and magically ‘’produce’’ shoe boxes where votes for him were ‘’forgotten’’! LOL!

This is great news, and a great relief. I had Venezuela written off, and am honestly shocked that the commie bastards are incapable of pulling off a fix in the event that the balloting didn’t go the “correct” way.

Though, one must note that lurking behind this good news is the apparent fact that 49% of Venezuelans want a blatantly Marxist dictator.

Here is to hoping these results stay the same by morning.

Oh, no. I forgot about my computer screen. I figured taking a shower would do the trick.

Should I de-frag?

OK, I am officially gobsmacked...

I thought for sure Hugo would not accept defeat here.

He probably did it just to annoy me.

She would be quite upset if that socialist lost. From what I read, he did.

Venezuela hands narrow defeat to Chávez plan http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/12/03/america/03venezuela-loss.php

I agree. I think I read his term isn’t up until 2013. He’ll continue to socialize things, and I can’t see him leaving power when his term is up. He’ll then preside over his communist dictatorship.

Honestly, I didn’t think he’d admit defeat either. I thought he’d alter the results before he did that. I still believe he won’t leave power when his term is up.

I guess he figures that he has time to try again, and then a third time, if necessary.

After all, it’s not like he has really lost anything now because of the vote, is it? He just didn’t manage to grab the extra powers and time he had hoped for.

I’m with you on the idea of “leaving power”. He won’t until he is carried out toes-up and feet first.

Take it to the moderators. Given the content of the thread, the subject, and the importance of the topic, you will get little sympathy beyond mechanical deletion of the non-english post.

Rules are rules, though.

“spanish, a language, I might add, that many in the US are starting to get sick of the sight and sound of.”

If you cannot get washington on your side (and my side for that matter) then clearly the matter is academic.

I do think if I were to have kids in the US in this day and age, I would go to some effort to insure they learned spanish. It is going to be a tremendously important language in the US in the future, even in such obscure places as my birthplace in Mississippi.
