Riot police were on the scene in a Pasadena neighborhood Sunday afternoon as a planned protest teetered on the brink of mayhem.
Quanell X and his followers planned to meet in front of the home of Joe Horn, the man who shot and killed two suspected burglars at his neighbor’s home last month, in the 7400 block of Timberline for a protest around 3 p.m.
But they were met with an even larger group of protesters in support of Horn’s actions.

I graduated from Pasadena (TX) high school. My bet is that the above should read:

Shotgun, pump action, reportedly at 15 feet I think. It would have been hard to miss them. :)

Are you saying what he did was not lawful or legal? If so, then say so. There is no need for the juvenile name-calling that you wouldn’t dare attempt in person. You don’t insult my clan again moron. What you’ll notice is that there is nothing more said as to the status or criminal record of the deceased...
All we know is that they both had several forms of ID, all foriegn, nothing domestic...And that any previous criminal record has been left out of any stories since the original date of the incident...
From what I heard this afternoon was that someone suggested that anyone not living in that nieghborhood will be banned from the area, and that the home owners will file suit to get that done tomorrow...
So no one on either side of this issue will be able to protest anything in that subdivision as far as this issue is concerned...
And I agree with that...
They did to horn as well. That's how he described them to the 911 operator/dispatcher. Could be Dominican Republic, or Cuban. Mariel boatlift types, although they are too young for that, I think... It was in 1980, so the 30 y/o would only have been 3, and the other about a few years older. Maybe their parents were part of the boat lift. Being interred at Ft. Chafee under the "leadership" of the Slickmeister wouldn't help much with socialization.

Shotgun at 15 feet doesn't require a "crack marksman". But it does require steady nerves when it's two young guys against one older gentlemen. His nerves were steady enough to git 'er done.

Notice that they didn't even have a bleeped out version of someone using the "N" word, so all we have is the reporters report that they did. They shouldn't have, but knowing the nature of the New Black Panthers, I'd be really surprised if their were not some equivalent words going in the other direction.
IIRC this "racist" neighborhood contains black and Latino homeowners as well as people of European heritage. Just no "Boys from the Hood", all dressed up in nice suits, but with attitudes worse than most folks in the 'hood.
In the event, neighbors corroborate his version of events. They were in his yard when he left his house, about 15 feet from him. Then, when he yelled, "Move and you're dead", they moved.. TOWARDS HIM. I suspect the forensics also corroborate, or Mr. Horn would be in jail.
They had burglarized his neighbors, and they weren't suspect to him, he saw them break in and he saw them break out another way. But, when he shot 'em, they were on his, not his neighbor's property and advancing towards him. Advancing is a bit hard to determine, other than the fact that one was shot in the chest, but location when shot is not, you just have to follow the blood trail, if there's a trail and not just a pool. If the evidence, as well as another neighbor's statement to the police had not agreed with his version of events, the police would not have hesitated to haul him away.
Texas grand juries are not known for bringing a "true bill" when persons committing crimes are shot by law abiding citizens. I predict a "No Bill". That means they will refuse to indict him.
But if they do, I'll gladly contribute to his defense fund.
Apparently the right to be black and do anything you damn well please to anyone is a right close to Quanell X’s heart.
