I was in Sausalito recently. While walking and window shopping I saw this. Damn nice to see. And in a rich liberal area like that.
If you're in that area, buy ice cream from this store. It deserves the support.
That is a stunner. I wonder if his business has fallen off.
If I get anywhere near the place, God forbid, I’ll buy from him.
Thanks! I needed that.
Kudos to Lapperts. I wonder if Uncle Gaylord's in Monterey does the same.
I love Sausalito- moonbats or no. I’m a Mill Valley native, and my family has been in Marin for many generations. I miss the place.
We won't be in Sausalito any time soon but we will be near their Pacific Grove store in February when we go to the ATT Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
That will definitely be one of our stops.
Thanks for the heads up.
Good owner AND good ice cream.
The following is an excerpt from a letter to a throw away rag in Marin County.
The letter writer quotes the owner of Lappert’s.
Pretty cool stuff.

On June 5th I attended a meeting
of the Corte Madera Town Council to
support a resolution to wave the street
impact fee for solar electric installations.
The Sierra Club has been lobbying
Bay Area towns to encourage solar
installation by eliminating the usual
building fees. This resolution would
have reduced Corte Maderas fees by
about 50 percent.
The resolution was on the consent
calendar, to be passed without discussion.
Councilman Michael Lappert,
owner of Lapperts Ice Cream, spoke
against this resolution, pulling it off the
consent calendar. Mr. Lapperts comments
included: I believe that solar
panels are not great conservation, and
why are we giving it a special consideration?
He said Today its very in
to talk about solar energy and if it was
all that great, the person putting it in
wouldnt care about the $200 because
hes doing it to please Al Gore. Hes not
doing it for any other reason. He asked:
So what do you want, good streets or to
feel good about yourself?as though
these are two mutually exclusive choices.
He proudly announced, Im not
here to please the Sierra Club. I frankly
cant stand them anyway. So I dont care
what they think about Corte Madera.
Then he assured everyone that global
warming is not an immediate concern
saying, The sky is not falling. The
water is not coming to your [front] door.
Everything is fi ne.... Relax, everybody
just chill out man.

Damn nice is right.
Good post.
Bought my wife’s engagement ring in Sausalito.
Haven’t been there for a long, long time.
Hoe Lee Cow. And, this guy got elected to town council in...Sausalito?!? I wish I lived there just so I could buy ice cream from his store every damn day.
Thanks for posting the address, etc. I cannot get the 1500 miles to their store but sure as heck can send a thank you card telling them I approve of their actions and that I saw their pic/policy on FR.
Other good news is that most of the airports I've been in over the last year have a USO-type waiting room for our guys.
All of us should thank them when we see them. I'd salute, but have never been in the military (unfortunately).
Bump to that!
I’m on Maui and there are two here that I know of, one very close to where I live. I take it though, that these stores are a chain but owned by different individuals and that they all wont have that sign or that attitude. A franchise, probably.
Did you see the guy who stacks the rocks?

Thanks, Google.
The first hit was actually your post!
