Anti-Christian Crusade - Beowulf is the latest installment in Hollywoods attempt to reconfigure history
By now, the oft-recurring negative portrayals of Christianity in major Hollywood movies have become hackneyed and predictable. The recent rendition of Beowulf only reinforced this trend. The same subtle depictions and motifs present in movies from decades past were once again present, a favorite being the attempt to try to depict pagans as open-minded and free-spirited peoples, or, quite anachronistically, as medieval counterparts to the modern, secular, liberal. The idea being that pagan peoples unencumbered by the suffocating forces of Christianity were/are happy, passionate folk, able to live life to the fullest.

Well of course! They bees born again Pagans!!! (a little ebonic lingo for ya there)
They loves decadence, debouchery and Democrats!!! ( yer move, Expert)
Who wants to go raping, pillaging, burning and thieving when you’re going to end up in Hell?
:-) <-—— Big Smiley face here guys
It is, always has been, and will be a spiritual battle. In the end, He wins. Or, should I say, He’s already won?
How does this Beowulf film compare to the one that was done just in the last few years?
Both for accuracy to the text and any anti-Christian bias?
I agree with you Louiswu 100%, I actually thought it showed the pagans to be drunks & liars which brought on their troubles.
Right you are, MrLee... Right you are!!! The best part is He’s letting these little people act like little tin gods with all the celebrity worship and even let one become Governor of America’s former Golden State. But judgement day is a comin, brother... as Dick Cheney says, BIGTIME!!!
I recently saw the movie “Chuck & Larry” with Adam Sandler and Kevin James. It promotes gay marriage and depicts Christians as bigoted unattractive losers. I have become used to that, but what disturbed me is that Adam Sandlers character physically assaults one of the Christian protesters (for screaming fagot!)to the delight of everyone. Now, I presume it is now socially acceptable to bash, literally, Christians, but what would be the reaction if the tables were turned? Let’s say a well known actor pummeled in the face of a gay marching in a gay rights parade for screaming “Breeder!” He’d never work again.
The priests were something new, the old gods were fading.
True the priests in all three were a little rough around the edges but what for jeepers sake you had some monster running around ripping off arms and slinging bodies everywhere and his momma was worse.
Where is the “Oh, Jeez!” guy? This is just getting stupid. Can’t tell perpetually offended conservatives from perpetually offended liberals these days. Attention whores, all.
Well I din’t see the dumb film but I still don’t care... I just love to “punk” these Hollywierd Born Again Pagans at every opportunity!!! Especially in view of what they’ve done and are doing to bring CA lower and lower from the Golden State it once was in the late sixties!!!
I saw this film and in my opinion it DOES NOT contain anti-Christian ideas. There were a few references to the Christian god and Jesus and the queen was portrayed as wearing a crucifix and being true to her husband.
I also saw the film (my first IMAX) and agree with you. The author is stretching to make his point by using Beowulf.

Dec.5 to 12 ....
These thngs are happening with greater frequency because we allowed ourselves to sit back, do nothing, and let it happen. There is now open season on Christians and the only way to stop it is to fight back. Excusing or ignoring the behavior of atheists and their ilk isn’t part of God’s plan. We are commanded to go unto the world and baptize INO the Father Son and Holy Spirit.
Sitting on the sidelines and rope-a-doping isn’t going to cut it. People of faith need to vote for values and vote with their pocketbooks. This stuff has to stop.
Flame away!
I do not think this movie has anti-Christian ideas either. Actually Beowulf depicted a transition period from the pagan Norse gods to Christianity. The Queen was a Christian and the most admirable character in the story.
Beowulf is just really OLD fiction. 13th Warrior (Eaters of the Dead) is another take on this old story line also.
I recommend that you see Beowulf in 3D. It was totally amazing !!! Telling one of our culture’s oldest stories in such an innovative way was well worth the ticket price.
See my post 17!
Medved says it's a beautiful, visually stunning movie. If he felt there was an anti-Christian slant, he would've mentioned it.
I plan to see it.
