The Canadian Islamic Congress has filed human rights complaints against Macleans magazine for publishing an excerpt from Mark Steyns book America Alone, which the CIC labels not just Islamophobic, but flagrantly Islamophobic: Canadian Islamic Congress launches human rights complaints against Macleans.
Complaints were submitted to Human Rights Commissions in B.C. and Ontario on the grounds that the article subjects Canadian Muslims to hatred and contempt, according to a CIC press release. In the release, the CIC labels Steyns article as flagrantly Islamophobic.
Faisal Joseph is the CICs legal counsel on the matter. In Canada, we have 750,000 law-abiding Muslims, he says. When you read that article, it sounds to some people [like] theres an attack from the Muslim world against the non-Muslim world. We take real issue with that type of characterization and the implications of it.
In response, a Macleans spokesperson provided the following statement: Mark Steyn is a thoughtful and experienced journalist, and the piece was a commentary on important global political issues. It was not in any sense Islamophobic, and Macleans is confident that the Human Rights Commissions will find no merit in the complaints.
Smart Muslims with agendas to change society will use the courts and laws when every it suits them. What they really want is unequal justice and they intent to impose a new religious order over as many north Americans as they can.
Consider the case of an Ontario man, Mark Harding. Harding handed out pamphlets outside a high school. He protested the use of a prayer room for Muslims and not the facility for Christians.
The judge sentenced him to six months in prison or take lessons from an imam, which Harding accepted. At one stage the imam made Harding read from the Koran about the inferiority of non-muslims. Harding refused and appealed, he lost.
He had to travel for three and a half hours, whether both ways, I do not know. This to take instructions from the imam. He suffered a mild heart attack. He lost his employment. He had to employ a muslim woman lawyer to plead for him. I have not been able to establish his state at this tim, for it was over three years ago.
A brave person contacted the crusading newspaper woman reporter who appeared exuberant over Harding's sentence. The person sent verses from the Koran to the newspaper. They asked "is this not hate"? The reporter failed to reply.
I would quote to the court the words of Pastor Niemoller. The words would fall on deaf ears.
OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!!!
We’re a peace loving people. Believe it or die. /sarc off
Maybe this kind of case is inevitable when you make laws that prohibit thinking.
Canadians just see the “Hate Speech” part and don’t see the danger to regular speech. Regular folks will have to get hurt and then mad. It could take a long time to undo those laws if it is done.
What sort of punishment would you like meted out to Mr. Steyn and the staff at McLeans? 50 lashes? 200 lashes? Beheading?
I do not fear Islam, I despise it.
When was the last time any of those 750,000 law abiding muslims spoke out for decency, compassion, tolerance, kindness, understanding and a reasonable acceptance of anything that wasn’t muslim? The silence of the muslim community, in the face of muslim attrocities, is cause for serious concern.
I’m sure that if some poor Canuk takes umbrage at some muz screeching “death to the infidels” that same Canadian Islamic Congress will say it’s an issue of free speech, and Canadas leftist officials will nod in agreement.
islamophobia is just another term for survival instinct.
The religion of the biggest bunch of cry-babies in history.
Why is it that the “law-abiding” “moderate” Muslims only attack (verbally or legally) non-Muslims who speak out about terrorism and never radical Muslims who commit terrorism?
Litigation and regulation as another means of waging war against the west, aided by Useful Idiots.
Yep, they’re trying to get “hate crime” laws here either passed or amended to ban any type of criticism or spoken or published negative opinion about the Religion of Peace, under threat of legal sanction. That was the whole point behind the Flying Imams, to get themselves tossed off the plane, and then sue the airline and the passengers as hate mongers.
How true. Saying "faggot" in a public place can get one tossed in prison. Hate thought doncha know.
Is new for the domestic PR wing of Al Qeda to adopt this tactic.
My fear of Islam correlates directly to the lack of protection we're getting from our own "leaders".
2CW. It’s on the way.
30-06 and 7.62 NATO ball ammo are already hideously expensive.
Oh, and don’t forget the bacon drippings as a superb bullet lube.
Salaam, y’all.
