London, June 2 (ANI): Hillary Clinton, the frontrunner to become the next American president, suffered serious bouts of depression when she was the U.S. First Lady in 1994.
According to former Watergate scandal journalist Carl Bernstein, Hillary also displayed persistent signs of melancholy as a student.
Bernstein quotes David Gergen, then a senior Clinton aide, as saying: "I don't know whether she was seeing a doctor or not but she was depressed" in his book -- "A Woman in Charge" in 1994, a year after her husband, Bill Clinton became president.
The book says Clinton's "emotional state" was "as fragile as it had ever been" in late 1994 after her close friend Vince Foster had committed suicide, her father had died and her healthcare proposals had been rejected.
Due to be published on Tuesday, the book, according to The Telegraph, could damage the New York senator's ambition to become America's first female president.
The claims are part of a potentially devastating portrait of a woman whom, Bernstein concludes, is controlling, aloof, dishonest and greatly flawed as a politician.
Although the Clinton campaign has attempted to dismiss the book, Bernstein's pedigree and sympathy towards the former first lady's policies make this difficult.
Advance media coverage has focused principally on suggestions that the Clintons came close to divorce in 1989. But accounts of Mrs Clinton's temper, tendency to bear grudges, lying, detachment and struggle to establish her own identity are likely to prove more damaging. The prospect of a commander-in-chief who might be prone to depression during a crisis could deter voters. (ANI)

There, corrected.
Four of Henry's knights got the message, or so they thought. See, among other works inspired by the events, T.S. Eliot's Murder in the Cathedral.
If you looked like this, you’d be melancholy too.
What? Did you think someone FORCED her to wear pants like that?
Bill, “no honey, you look great in those pants.”(Thank god they aren’t horizontal stripes!)
Finally, something that might stick!
And millions of voters want this depressed woman to be President?
Why would they be publishing this now? Bernstein loves this woman and the ex-Pres.
This is an orchestrated effort to gain sympathy... ie she has suffered like the rest of us and somehow she is able to get beyond her pain/depression/whatever and move on.
Turn the negatives into a positive.
Brilliant!
And that was the swan song of her conscience...the last flicker before it totally died.
LOL!
HAHA! Not Typhoid Mary but Depression Hillary
THE MALIGNANT PERSONALITY:
These people are mentally ill and extremely dangerous! The following precautions will help to protect you from the destructive acts of which they are capable.
First, to recognize them, keep the following guidelines in mind.
(1) They are habitual liars. They seem incapable of either knowing or telling the truth about anything.
(2) They are egotistical to the point of narcissism. They really believe they are set apart from the rest of humanity by some special grace.
(3) They scapegoat; they are incapable of either having the insight or willingness to accept responsibility for anything they do. Whatever the problem, it is always someone else's fault.
(4) They are remorselessly vindictive when thwarted or exposed.
(5) Genuine religious, moral, or other values play no part in their lives. They have no empathy for others and are capable of violence. Under older psychological terminology, they fall into the category of psychopath or sociopath, but unlike the typical psychopath, their behavior is masked by a superficial social facade.
If you have come into conflict with such a person or persons, do the following immediately!
(1) Notify your friends and relatives of what has happened.
Do not be vague. Name names, and specify dates and circumstances. Identify witnesses if possible and provide supporting documentation if any is available.
(2) Inform the police. The police will do nothing with this information except to keep it on file, since they are powerless to act until a crime has been committed. Unfortunately, that often is usually too late for the victim. Nevertheless, place the information in their hands.
Obviously, if you are assaulted or threatened before witnesses, you can get a restraining order, but those are palliative at best.
(3) Local law enforcement agencies are usually under pressure if wealthy or politically powerful individuals are involved, so include state and federal agencies as well and tell the locals that you have. In my own experience, one agency that can help in a pinch is the Criminal Investigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service or (in Canada) Victims Services at your local police unit. It is not easy to think of the IRS as a potential friend, but a Swedish study showed that malignant types (the Swedes called them bullies) usually commit some felony or other by the age of twenty. If the family is wealthy, the fact may never come to light, but many felonies involve tax evasion, and in such cases, the IRS is interested indeed. If large amounts of money are involved, the IRS may solve all your problems for you. For obvious reasons the Drug Enforcement Agency may also be an appropriate agency to approach. The FBI is an important agency to contact, because although the FBI does not have jurisdiction over murder or assault, if informed, they do have an active interest in any other law enforcement agencies that do not follow through with an honest investigation and prosecution should a murder occur. Civil rights are involved at that point. No local crooked lawyer, judge, or corrupt police official wants to be within a country mile if that comes to light! It is in such cases that wealthy psychopaths discover just how firm the "friends" they count on to cover up for them really are! Even some of the drug cartel biggies will scuttle for cover if someone picks up the brick their thugs hide under. Exposure is bad for business.
(4) Make sure that several of your friends have the information in the event something happens to you. That way, an appropriate investigation will follow if you are harmed. Don't tell other people who has the information, because then something bad could happen to them as well. Instruct friends to take such an incident to the newspapers and other media.
If you are dealing with someone who has considerable money, you must realize that they probably won't try to harm you themselves, they will contract with someone to make the hit. The malignant type is a coward and will not expose himself or herself to personal danger if he or she can avoid it.
I would offer the likelihood is the latter. . .though. . .putting away an old friend probably is depressing. But being discovered would be a huge worry; think the 'worry' won. IMHO. . .
'Course Hilly(!) being a 'Rat, depression would probably be considered a career enhancing thing. Kinda like a lesbian affair, an abortion, and all the other character building life experiences the femi-nazi's extol.
A face here that does not need to be ‘read’ by a professional. . .
OTOH, will Bill suffer from depression IF she is POTUS and he has to walk ten steps behind her?
sw
They have to get all the 'flotsam' out there. . .and think that is what Bernstein is doing. If it rises to the top; they can deal with it; if it rises and they cannot make it go away; they will have a 'plan B' to take care of it.
And of course, Hillary can respond. . .that is old news and even older rumors spread by VRWC.
But whatever the case; Hillary has to test the waters; because she believes she can walk on it.
Oh please, there is nothing fragile about the RED QUEEN. This beast is one of the most controlled, deceitful, cunning demons running unchained in this nation.
perhaps when Vince Foster died, Hillary was in mourning...were’t they pretty close?
off topic just a touch but in your post you mention you along with tons of us I should add, were depressed during the bill and hill presidency.
God forbid she should be elected but if she is then it really will be the Hillbillys in the white house...
And most likely another serious bout will begin on the evening of November 4,2008! :)
No, they were on the "outs" with each other, and hadn't seen each other for more than a month before VWF's death, despite the fact that their WH offices were in close proximity. Any "mourning" on her part for her erstwhile law partner and reputed former paramour was merely crocidile tears!
