He's played a politician on TV and in real life. Now Fred Thompson wants to be president. He and his wife join Larry to talk about the upcoming primary and their personal life.

Heh heh...
Oh very good Clara, that is excellent and it covers Mission9 far beyond this one post...
Sorry guy, she nailed it...
Well done Clara...
It did detract from the point of the thread. To inform those of us who missed the interview about what was said.
I did not see the interview, and this thread got sidetracked from reporting the substance of said interview.
About the only thing I learned in the 200+ posts was that the interview was short.
Not at all. Considering Dr. Paul's message of liberty and freedom is outpacing the 'front runners' in support this quarter (monetary and at whistle stops), there may be a shock for the asleep party in January and February. Citizens of the respective states are sick and tired of the same ol' non-answer platitudes they hear at these debates
As for Dr. Paul's running mate, I was thinking someone like Walter Williams. You do know who Walter Williams is don't you? I mean I know Republicans have tossed off most of their conservative coats but I wasn't sure they still recognize conservative thought when it smacks them in the face
New Rasmussen poll out this morning with Rudy and Mitt dropping, Fred up to 14% and Mike up to 15%. McCain stayed put.
Which is a statement much worse than anything Ive heard in a Fred Thompson ad. Youve got a lot of class. /sarc
Its her husband silly!
On this one Mary is all wet!
She threw her shoe at the TV when Freds video at the debate was an attack ad.
Attacking an opponents position or showing their stands to be as fluid as the sea is not what I would classify an attack ad.Attacking them on a personal level or saying things like lazy...lackadaisical...amoral...now thats an attack ad.
FM it is a doozy!
Maybe Ill just start pinging Rep. Hunter and his son to each of Paperdolls bs comments.
Thought to do that myself but then figured they have more important and meaningful things to worry about than something as inconsequential as ...well I will just leave it at that ...grins.
I believe Paperdoll has ridden the zot eternal.
That fact is on my amen prayer list this morning.
If Paul’s “support” translated into anything past a spectacle we would not be having conversations about Rudy etc.
Still I am glad you guys have that to hang on to, considering how pathetic the anti war movement is starting to really look with success of our brave men and women in the field...
From your keyboard to the Zot Creator’s ears.
There was one candidate who did not display any moderateness or liberalism or have any of his past forays into those areas displayed, and that candidate was Fred Thompson. Now, this is not an endorsement. You know, I don’t endorse during primaries. ~ Rush Limbaugh the word smith
****
....sure Rush and Mary Matalin who is Fred’s advisor and also a belt way gal, who is married to another belt way guy James Carville.
Rush clearly is not giving due consideration to Fred’s own RINO past, his flip flops, his alliances with the Gang of 14, his weakness on immigration, McCain-Feingold, his failure to support key elements of the GOP platform etc.... also Mary accompanied Rush on the plane to Afghanistan... Hmmm. Very interesting. All very cozy with the Fred people. Too inside the beltway
No wonder Fred feels like a walk in to the primaries he seems like a shoe in soon Rudy past will catch up with him and Rudy Dumpy will have a great fall!
I knew it wasn't cheap. There is a picture of him carrying it around here someplace. Fred should encourage Dick Cheney to get bigger game than little ducks. Like fat wild turkeys. You can eat those. I don't know how those birds manage to fly, but they do. There is a CA condor family living in the hills near where I work. Those birds are BIG.
I thought it was a very bad move on the his campaign’s part. It was not Reaganesque at all. It was arrogant and mean-spirited. It is one of the reasons he is polling so low with women, I think. Not just women, but Americans in general, want hope, optimism and inspiration. The kind Reagan was so good at. That ad was not played at the appropriate time or place. I think Carville may have rubbed off too much on Mary Matalin. Blech.
He’s getting the press where it counts, on his SOLID conservative issue proposals. Since most folks aren’t paying attention right now, anyway, the fact that he has all his issues out there when they do will be a plus!
From what I've read, Mary Matalin is NOT his top campaign advisor, and even if she were, she likes to WIN, so she wouldn't be doing anything to mess up her candidate's chances.
I didn't even watch the debate, so I don't know what the video was about. What I HAVE read, from various sources, was that Fred came off very well in the debate, especially since he wasn't part of the bickering that was apparently going on between Rudy and Mitt. I haven't read anything about any negative ad he showed, so it must not have been made too unfavorable an impression on those who wrote the articles I read.
The very things that make Mitt unappealing to the red meat base are the very things that commend him to the big sweet spot of American politics - the independent voter, or the unfocused Republican who says, “I vote for the man, and not the party”
Mitt is persuasive. Fred can have a voting record more perfect than Reagan. It matters not, Fred is not persuasive.
I dont know which women you speak of. Alot of women I know like Fred and that includes myself. As for the ad. There was nothing mean spirited about it. It simply showed his opponents with their own words speaking passionately about what they believe in. I guess you might think it mean spirited when you are the one being outed for now saying things that will get you elected...ala Mitt.
