The United States, backing staunch ally Britain, branded as "outrageous" the jail sentence of a British teacher in Sudan who let pupils call a teddy bear "Mohammed" as part of a class project. "Obviously, it's an outrage," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said after a judicial source in Sudan said Gillian Gibbons, 54, would be jailed for 15 days for insulting Islam and then deported.
"We stand with our UK allies in trying to make sure that this woman is protected from the court that says that they want to impose this sentence on her," said Perino.
"Anyone looking at this on its face would have to conclude that it was outrageous."

She was working at a school called the “Unity School,
sponsored by some British group, which is dedicated to the education of Christian and Muslim kids together. Things seemed to be okay in the classroom, but one of the Muslim secretaries at the school was the one who reported the teddy bear to the authorities.
I’ll tell you what I think about this case after I go take a “Mohammed”.
I read that one of the students in Gillian’s classroom said he was not naming the Teddy Bear after “the” Mohammed, but after himself, as his name was also MOhammed.

Mohammed isn't holy... or sacred... yes...that is the lesson, and ignorance runs rampant in the Sudan. Teddy Bears all over the world are insulted that one of their cute cuddly pals was named after a Jerk named Mohammed.
Just now in my mail box I recveived a FOX news alert saying thousands in the Sudan demonstrate, calling for the teacher’s execution.
And yet...they wonder why we are often appalled by their culture and religion..

I was thinking the same thing...whether or not she meant to, she taught the world another lesson in the intolerance of the death cult of Islam.
The Brits better airlift her out of there quick, because this hysteria is way , way out of control.
Sudan is NOT LIKE HERE.
It is populated by savages who follow rules which we would never countenance.
Rather than being beheaded with a rusty knife, or being turned over to a Sharia court, she's getting a slap on the wrist and a ticket home.
For which she, and we, should be grateful.
