WASHINGTON -- Half of the nearly 3.5 million immigrants living in Texas are in the country illegally, according to a report scheduled for release today by the Center for Immigration Studies.
Using the latest Census Bureau data, the center found that Texas has one of the fastest-growing immigrant populations of any state and that 50 percent of the state's foreign-born population -- slightly more than 1.7 million people -- are illegal immigrants.
Only Arizona at 65 percent, North Carolina at 58 percent and Georgia at 53 percent had a higher proportion of illegal immigrants in their immigrant populations.

And what troubles me, is that our leaders seem please as punch about it.
Hey those of you who died at the Alamo and future campaigns, please don’t look at what is taking place today.

O.K. I’ve got some truly shocking news for youse guys in Freeper Land; the U.S. Gov’t and the MSM regularly lie to you guys.
Point 1); There are closer to 5 million illegal Aliens in Texas today. How do I know that? Because occasionaly our local newspaper slips up and notes that there are believed to be 1 million illegals in Harris and the surrounding counties, alone! Extrapolate from that to the DFW area, San Antonio/Corpus Christi and Austin to El Paso.
Point 2); Gov’t has said, for the last 50 years that the “Blacks” make up roughly 17.5% of the population. Lie; they made up 17% of the population in 1954, today they make up approximately 25%~30% of the population.
Just to let ya’ll know something of what the truth really is in your fair nation today.
If Texas is like the illegals in California there is no way they can count them or even make a guess,
Most of them live in the bushes and river beds, not in houses or apartments.
Check you sales taxes and property taxes. Your sales tax is 2% more than here in MN and your property taxes in the Big Cities are almost double what I’m looking at up here.
Um, about that Point 2) of yours, you may want to explain its significance in a thread about illegal aliens.
That ain't right. The greater Houston area has a 16.3% black demographic so I'd imagine for all of Texas it would be somewhat less than 16.3%. Certainly not 25%-30%.
The following is from Arbitron which is a commercial enterprise that does ratings for radio. They HAVE TO KNOW the exact demographic figures. Their bread and butter depends on it.
That's not the point. The point is that everybody, legal and illegal, pay into the system which makes illegals less of a financial drain on us here in Texas.
The way I look at it, said ILLEGAL ALIENS and their U.S.-born children under the age of 18 now make up 21 percent of Texas’ population. Children born in the U.S. are citizens (BS), even if their parents are ILLEGAL ALIENS. Send them all back to their country of origin.
Once an ILLEGAL ALIEN, always an ILLEGAL ALIEN!
Have you really taken a good look at this issue?
I grew up NW of Dallas area and left it for good in teh 90’s. I cannot stand to go to Dallas anymore. Ft. Worth isn’t far behind.
I try not to get south of I-20 until I get west of Parker County unless I have to.
Check these states with the biggest populations of illegals and then go to any website (like realtytrac.com) and you will find it correlates with the subprime mortgage foreclosures.
Don’t expect this to appear in the Wall Street Journal.
Yes I have looked at the issue -- I frikin' live here. What kind of question is that! And I said "less" of a financial drain due to the fact that we (legal & illegal) all pay into the state revenue same via sales taxes. States that rely heavily on a state income tax are hit much harder by illegals than we are here in Texas.
That's just common mathematical sense.
Pleased as punch and completely unwilling to do what the majority of Americans want- build the border fences, enforce existing immigration laws, penalize employers of illegals then round up and deport the invaders.
I’ve never believed those numbers; I never will, and any thinking, analytical person would soon discern that they are completely bogus.
