Lynchburg, VA - He's huge in Iowa, and making headlines everyday. Now a contender for the Republican presidential bid is in the Hill City. Governor Mike Huckabee spoke at Commencement at Liberty University Wednesday morning.

NO, What’s Twilight zone is when Pat Robertson Endorsed Rudy Guilani..!...
Great sarcasm! Agreed.
Closing the borders is critical — beyond critical at this point — and Huckabee is for opening them wider. I’m a Baptist, as he is, and would not vote for him because he isn’t concerned for America’s security.
Abortion can’t be the sole issue for GOP platform. Murder via abortion is a horrible, horrible thing, and we donate tons of money to counter that. Still, for abortion to end, people’s hearts must be changed and you can’t legislate that. You CAN, however, legislate border security.
I think that the murder of Americans by Muslim fanatics is a horrible thing, too, as is jeopardizing American children’s lives by funneling healthcare money and services to illegal children and adults.
Oh brother...
Not even in his home state.
Bingo; had he run his campaign better I would be a “Fred-Head”..! Alienating Social Cons/Christians is not the Answer..
Falwell’s insane.
ridiculously?? Many are pointing out his "real" record! It is all there for anyone to see. The reason there is righteous passion against Huck is because he is the biggest hypocrite running on the Rep side. As someone else stated, Huck is a pro-life Liberal.
Huck's record clearly shows that he has a Liberal's lust for power. Hucks' record shows he as no concept of limited government.
Huck's record clearly shows he has little respect for our Constitution.
Huck's record clearly shows that his true affinity lies with the Rat party.
Huck is an absolute fraud. Huck has an leftist's lust for power -- in order to further grow government and push us further into socialist Hell.
The reason so many are angry at the Huckster is because he has the gall to say he is a conservative, when everything shows he is another typical ego-centric liberal.
Bingo.
Falwells insane.
_________
I thought he was dead.
People are know by the company they keep are the liberal they endorse.
My question is though, is this endorsement worth any votes?
You need to get your head out and look at how Fred is tanking in the polls and blame him, not me for pointing it out.
Maybe it's because he's an open-borders socialist with a soft spot for junk science.
I agree. Thompson has run a horrible campaign with regards to COMMUNICATIONS. His Frederalism arguments are legally laughable at best.
He could have kept his arguments but he seems to be stuck in 1807 instead of 2007 with regards to full faith and credit.
He is still better than huckabee but then again betamax was better than VHS and we now all use DVD.
Huckabee is the Howard Dean of 2008....four years ago Dean was supposed to be the front-runner and poof...
Once Huckabee’s record is more revealed...his support will wane. A lot of his positions (pro-illegal, open-border, big government) will derail his campaign
No, we are all just mean...
Yeah, that’s it...
Not sure it had anything to do with how he ran his campaign. I knew when he finally got into the race his support would drop and I am sure he did as well. It isn’t about the campaign it is that Fred didn’t have the assets, as advertised.
Fred, comes off as a little arrogant. I don’t think that is his intention, but part of his personality. Translation; You got to meet and schmooze with the Butter Queen. He is a Howie Baker (The Great Conciliator), the centrists, centrist, protoge. So, he has had to waste a lot of time writing position papers to play catch up. At that, Fred is still a ham and an egg more conservative than Huckabee, and still has as much chance at the nomination as any. Don’t buy into the poll hype, it’s an exercise in futility. It is anyone’s race to win, anyone can still win it and none of us has any idea who it will be until someone, has won it.
Exactly . The Huckster is about to feel Mr. Perfect’s hypocritical sleaze machine in full force .
Huckabee has EARNED every single ounce of ridicule.
He IS big taxes.
He IS nanny state.
He represents everything in big government intrusion we do NOT want in our lives. The fact he can Beee Esss as a “preacher” is just the politician shining through. He is another Arkansas slickster.
(It appears that Anti-Huckabee FReepers may be profiled by their long, cryptic user names. ;-)
Huckabee supports securing the border first and foremost. He also supports some kind of path to citizenship -- and I believe it is only fair to allow a rigorous path to citizenship to those who can prove they have been here for 7 or so years, paying taxes. Huckabee was against the latest immigration bill that we all fought against.
Huckabee is strongly against "LOST" and UN sell-outs. He has also been receiving an education he didn't receive in Arkansas about the actual threat of "open borders," which he is strongly against.
As for Arkansas taxes, being from Illinois and Wisconsin, I know something about burgeoning state spending, partly due to Democrat legislatures, partly due to unfunded mandates, partly due (as apparently in the case of the Arkansas nursing homes) to malfeasance. I'm glad that Huckabee wants to focus (and has some background to) upon decreasing spending and for sustaining the Bush cuts, and for ridding us of the tyrany of the IRS.
As for the wedding gift play, he says he didn't know his staff chose that option and I would believe him.
As for the fuel tax, bad roads have to be fixed. Bridges, too, witness 35E in Minneapolis.
I think Huckabee is in the cross-hairs of those in the "libertarian" mentality, within FR. I am not. I'm in the "classic liberal" and freedom-with-responsibility vein -- more like Madison and Lincoln than that Karl-Marx-reactionary lesbian from Russia, Rand -- so I don't slam the door on likely the most appealing, vote-getting candidate, Huckabee.
My jury is not in. I think Huckabee will have to continue to answer questions about his record. So far, I'm pretty impressed with his answers.
