"We express our determination to bring an end to bloodshed, suffering and decades of conflict between our peoples; to usher in a new era of peace, based on freedom, security, justice, dignity, respect and mutual recognition; to propagate a culture of peace and nonviolence; to confront terrorism and incitement, whether committed by Palestinians or Israelis,"
What has happened to George Bush?

I’ve been informed that I knew what I was getting when I voted for him. I’m voting much more carefully next time.
Nothing except he sounds like a man who believes he has won and in winning can afford to be generous and upbeat. Sort of like a prize fighter who beats the crap out of his opponent and then says what a great fighter and fine man the opponent is and he hopes they can be future friends. Bush speaks from a position of power and authority and as far as I'm concerned it's about time.
Disgraceful exercise in moral equivalency. No good will come of this.
If the terrorists would lay down their weapons, there would be no violence. If Israel would lay down its weapons, there would be no Israel.
A lesson learned for me too.
We are not deceived by their pretenses to piety. We have seen their kind before. They are the heirs of all the murderous ideologies of the 20th century. By sacrificing human life to serve their radical visions -- by abandoning every value except the will to power -- they follow in the path of fascism, Nazism, and totalitarianism. That describes the "Palestinians". Has he forgotten, has he lost his heart?
Meanwhile in the mideast “peace loving” palestinians are rioting over the peace summit half a world away.
Self derangement syndrome.
What a putrifying, morally reprehensible statement.
Another Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement.
Cemeteries are full of the signatories of these things.
They are the only ones who know Middle East peace.
Didn’t Bill Richardson call for this? Didn’t he say there should be a 2 state solution? Maybe the whole world is now listening to Bill Richardson.
There isn’t much to quibble at in the statement itself. If the Arabs really meant what they say a two-state solution could be quickly worked out.
But of course they don’t, and their true goal remains the destruction of Israel.
It is so odd that attorneys, diplomats, academics and the media have so much influence in our society. What these groups all have in common is a core belief that putting words on paper is actually accomplishing something.
The statement itself isn’t reprehensible, if read with no context.
Sounds like normal diplo-boilerplate to me. Freepers may want to see Bush hammer the Arabs hard core, old school but on the very small chance that this conference could lead to something, Bush has to play the angles.
Remember, there are a hell of a lot of Arab countries with
reps at this meeting. That is a major accomplishment in itself. Few of them love Israel. Most view Israel as the cause of all woe.

Like it has ever lead to something other than war when they appease the Arab world.
Maybe tell and speak the truth or is that just too insane of an idea.
