A second night of riots by youths in a Paris suburb left more than 80 police injured, buildings gutted and France on Tuesday facing heightened tensions in towns north of the capital.
Late into the night, around 100 young men again hurled petrol bombs and bricks at police in the town of Villiers le Bel, where on Sunday two teenagers were killed in a motorbike collision with a police car.
Faced with the worst eruption of urban violence since the riots of 2005, President Nicolas Sarkozy was to chair a special meeting on the unrest on Wednesday, after returning from a state visit to China.
The president was also to meet the families of the victims, aged 15 and 16, at the Elysee palace Wednesday morning.
Monday night's violence left several buildings damaged by fire in Villiers, just north of Paris, including a tax office, a supermarket, a library and a nursery school, as well as 63 vehicles. Six people were arrested during the troubles, which lasted about six hours, police said.
A report from Le Monde newspaper described boys as young as 13 taking orders from their elders to torch buildings and forming battle ranks against the police, vowing to "do in" a "pig" -- a police officer.
Authorities said guns were used against police, whose unions described the violence as worse than the rioting that hit hundreds of French cities in November 2005 -- also sparked by the deaths of two youths.
According to police figures, 82 officers were injured Monday night, four of them seriously after being hit by buckshot from hunting weapons.
The Synergie police union said the youths were using "urban guerrilla" tactics.

H'mm Interesting choice of a word, referring to police as "pigs", not in the way the word is used in American slang but in the culturally religious sense as being unclean.
I also couldn't help notice the abject lack of any reference to those rioting as being anything other than expressed in the PC dialect code word as "immigrants".
Immigrants from where? needs no explanation.
Shoot back!
And - the dollar should be bouncing pretty soon. What good is an Euro if everything is on fire?
Them Utes again?
Sark’s Fault.
Notice the “Google Gaggle” of headlines here on the “riots” in France:

Not a word about who is rioting or why. IMO, the fact that there is an
almost universal blackout on the pertinent facts about the who and the why
points to a serious ideological bias in the media. Since those who are
rioting are young second generation Muslim immigrants, and the left is
increasingly aligned with the same goals as the Muslims (in suppressing
Christian influence in European society).
The riots cannot go on for long, but the media bias and the social bias of
the left will go on until something drastic changes it. In the long run,
this is the bigger story.
New riots?
Or did they just take some time off, as the French 30 hour work week seems to indicate?
(chuckle)
Police and politicians say the French suburbs remain a "tinderbox" two years after the 2005 riots, which exposed France's failure to integrate its large black and Arab population
Those rascally French. They really are to blame when the police get shot.

It’s also funny how it says these youths are “taking orders from their elders.” Imams?
Hundreds of cities? Hundreds? I'd say our news media could've call that a civil war - more so than Iraq at the time.
Sarkozy had better get to work. He was voted in because the former administration did nothing. During the last riots, umpteen cars were torched. Only two "white" people were killed. One was in the wrong place on a bus and the other, a social worker, foolishly attempted to reason with Muslims. I attribute the low bloodshed to the discipline by the clerics giving orders in the mosques. The mosques were not mentioned in the media then. Now, LeMonde is admitting the "elders" -- the f'n imams are giving orders, bloody ones. They are testing Sarkozy. If the French don't come done on the Muslims hard now, it's going to get very bloody soon.
The police need to quit screwing around and get some lead in the air.Anyone with a weapon or fire bomb needs to be shot dead in the street.
Once again their ethnicity is left out of the article.
fair and balanced, lol
However, the fact that young Arabs in France have something approaching a 50% unemployment rate (whereas it is less than 15% for Turks in Germany and less than 10% for Pakistanis in England) is due directly to French social policy.
The unemployed in France receive ridiculous benefits that greatly disincentivize people from working and the employed in France are so secure in their jobs that employers are greatly disincentivized from hiring anyone whom they are not related to personally or socially.
A 20 year old French-born Arab gets enough money from social assistance that he can lie around doing nothing all day except smoking dope and getting into trouble. A French employer, knowing that if he hires someone it will be impossible to ever fire them as long as they show up 30 hours a week, has no desire to take a shot at hiring a young Arab whom he does not know personally and for whom none of the employer's friends, family, classmates, etc. can vouch.
In other words, a socially engineered pool of a million layabouts with no social or economic stake in France.
Us in twenty years.
It is ultimately the media which enables rioters to commit arson to injure and some times kill police with impunity. Any real effort on the part of the police to fight back effectively (i.e. use firearms) would trigger massive and universal condemnation by the media including interviews with the grieving families of the “victims”.
and lengthy analysis why the shooting was unjustified and how the police became self appointed judges juries and executioners.
What France and most other countries don’t get is that their refusal to use lethal force just delays the inevitable. Their is no compromise, no arrangement, no permanent cease fire with Jihadists either they kill you or you kill them, period.
The longer any Western government waits to either start the whole scale deportations or answering Jihadist violence with greater violence the weaker that government becomes and the more in doubt their survival and the survival of the non-muslim population will be.
