WASHINGTON, Nov. 26, 2007 Iraqi security forces are growing stronger and more effective as they take the lead in more operations and continue to recruit and train record numbers to fill their ranks, a top U.S. advisor in Iraq said yesterday.
At a news conference, Army Brig. Gen. James C. Yarbrough, commander of the Iraqi Assistance Group, touted significant growth and increased effectiveness within the Iraqi army, police and border patrol. |

Sounds like political benchmarks are on the horizon... just in time for the 08 elections... How many Democrats will be for the surge before they were against the surge before they were for removing Saddam before they were against removing Saddam....
As this campaign begins to wind down, I hope loyal U.S. Citizens who have supported it realize that down the road we very well may be damned for what we are doing.
When the Russians entered Afghanistan, the U.S. helped train freedom fighters over there. Later on some of those freedom fighters became the terrorist enemies of the west. How many, I truly don’t know, but the left has never let go of that claim.
Look at the minimalist help Husseing was given so the Ayatollah’s wouldn’t win the Iraq/Iran conflict. We were damned for that as well. The idea that it would have been terrible for Iran to win that war, be damned.
Now as we effect the destruction of Al Qaeda in Iraq, don’t expect the left to admit the good that was done. Any future conflicts in the area will be cast as one that involves people we trained during the conflict that removed Hussein from power.
It’s a given. We can count on the terrorist sympathizers to be in this for the long haul.
