LYNCHBURG, Va. -- A Christian advocacy group has some advice for Christians as they prepare to do their Christmas shopping: Don't shop at stores that censor the word "Christmas."
As part of its Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign, Liberty Counsel has released its fifth annual "Naughty and Nice" list of stores seeking to attract gift buyers.
The "Naughty List" names stores that make no mention of Christmas in their advertising, vaguely observing the "season" or "holiday" instead. The list includes Gap, Kohl's, Bloomingdale's and Marshalls, to name a few.
The "Nice List" consists of stores that still name the reason for the season. Some stores on that list include Macy's, Wal-Mart, Target and Toys R Us.
Both can be viewed on Liberty Counsel's Web site.
Liberty Counsel's Steve Crampton said stores have the right to advertise any way they want, but Christians have the right to shop at stores that recognize their holiday.
Happy birthday!
I was just at a Christmas Fair at alma mater, a Catholic high school. One of the ladies selling goods wore a button that said “It’s OK to say Merry Christmas to me.” I like that.
Good one! :-)
I went to the stores yesterday. If what I saw is any indication, this is going to be a very lean Christmas for the retailers. No crowds at Walmart, Staples, or Home Depot. Bass Pro Shops had the biggest crowds, but even they were not a whole lot busier than normal.
Even the street traffic seemed light by comparison to prior years.
That’s right Kohl’s is only providing kosher advertising to our country’s Jews, not the Christians....please people, what are you thinking. They’re PR department is trying to keep all our Muslim, Catholic, Christian, and Atheists away!/s
As a side I as a general rule do not even like mingling with the masses at Wal-Mart, Home Depot or Sears - forget it, takes all the fun out of shopping for me.
Yeah...Hobby Lobby is on the list!

Hopefully there is more to this. From the story you don’t see any evidence of censorship.
Best Buy mentions ‘Christmas delivery’ and sells a Christmas gift card.
If they honor that fictitious Commy holiday I dont want to go near the place.
But if Kohls doesn’t follow through, get a message to this website!
I think that Target should be on the Naughty List because they will NOT allow the Salvation Army Bell Ringers to be at their stores. They won’t see my feet in their store, that’s for sure.
Down in Baton Rouge there "used" to be a store called Goudchaux's, run by a family of devout Jews (the Sternbergs). They had THE BIGGEST Christmas spread of any store in the area. (The "used to be" part happened after they tried to grow outside their expertise, and spread branches in other states).
As an aside, Kohl’s is not owned and operated by the Kohl family. I’m pretty sure that they were bought out in the early 70s and transformed from mostly a grocer to a department store chain shortly thereafter. Herb Kohl might have stayed on for a few years but he hasn’t been a part of that company for years.
Merry Christmas!
“Salvation Army”
Thanks for the reminder. Even though I am a Catholic, I still like the Salvation Army.
CVS actually had real CHRISTMAS carols like”Joy to the World” playing and the roof did NOT cave in!!!!Who knew?
I agree. Why would I want to go out in the cold, waste money on gas, just to be surrounded by the stressed-out masses in the stores?
ALL my Christmas shopping is done online. Shipping is usually free and I avoid paying MA sales tax. Not to mention I can comparison shop in minutes to find good deals.
Christmas shopping or any other shopping in stores makes no sense to me.
Plus you do not have to get dressed!!!!:-)
