Honoring Heroes at the Holidays Tour
November 26 - December 16
Join Move America Forward for the Honoring Heroes at the Holidays Tour this November 26th - December 16th as we cross this nation holding pro-troop events in 40 cities across America to honor and salute the men and women of the U.S. military who will be thousands of miles away from their homes and families during this holiday season.
Along the tour we will be collecting more than 100,000 Christmas, Hanukkah and holiday greeting cards for our troops that we will deliver to them in Iraq and Afghanistan. Get your kids involved, and invite local schools to participate! On the outside envelope be sure to write either: Christmas Card for Our Troops or Hanukkah Card for Our Troops or Holiday Card for Our Troops. Hear what legendary TV personality, Ed McMahon, has to say about the effort - CLICK HERE to LISTEN.
Bring the cards to one of our 40 pro-troop holiday events along the route of the "Honoring Our Heroes at the Holidays Tour" - you can find our tour route and itinerary here:

Hay there, you’re welcome!
Fort Benning is not on the Route this time. I imagine the 30,000 or so that were there last spring are all over the country spreading patriotizm!

we GIs were even told to take the "post parking stickers" OFF our POVs to "blend in with the civilian vehicles" in late '74 at Ft Mead, MD.
In 1974 I was TDY to Ft. Meade from FT. Eustis, then sent TDA to Naval Station Annapolis. Not any problems around the Academy. I did wonder why I didnt have to register my POV and get a sticker. Maybe one of the reasons I wasnt bothered much was that my duty uniform was civilian clothes, I had hair and didnt come near Ft. Meade.
Fortunately I was stationed in Hampton Roads before that - a hard core military area. At the time I thought Army, Navy and Air force out numbered the civilian population. Virginia Beach was full of hippies, but not enough anti-war or antimilitary freaks to notice.
The only thing I didn't like was the order that we weren't to travel in uniform.

“I did wonder why -———” ======> NOW you KNOW. (i was an MP officer at the time on AD. we MPs spent lots & lots of time REMOVING parking stickers from POV bumpers with a razor-blade scraper, especially for ladies & retirees. = MPs always "get the REALLY fun jobs." = {remind me sometime to tell you about our WEEKS of INSPECTING "old, discarded, refrigerators"}sarcasm button: ON- chuckle.)
about that same time, we were also told NOT to wear our uniform OFF-post, except with "several of your army buddies, in a group" = "safety in numbers"!
fyi, i don't think it was a "time" that ANY "RVN-era GI" want "to revisit". it just "wasn't a FUN time!"

I sent this into our local morning news and they are going to mention it on Channel 3, Las Vegas, probably tomorrow.
Here is the reply I got.
“Yes! We have to mention this on the morning news. People need to know this is going on in our community.
Thanks for the information.”
Maybe we will get a bigger turnout.
Maybe everyone should send to their local media.
God Bless Our Troops!!!!!!!!!!!!!
