Hillary criticized for press strategy
The Washington Times ^ | November 23, 2007 | Christina Bellantoni

When Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton wants to get a message out, her presidential campaign handpicks news outlets. Or, in some cases, bypasses the media entirely.

The New York Democrat's third-quarter fundraising blowout was leaked to the Drudge Report. She made sure an Iowa newspaper printed her comments that she found Sen. Barack Obama's answer to a foreign-policy question "irresponsible" and "naive." She also uses her "Hillary Hub" campaign creation to break news.

The strategy allows Mrs. Clinton — who rarely holds press availabilities — to avoid taking questions from reporters who cover her campaign and who might have detailed follow-up queries to her carefully planned policy announcements.

She’s been doing this kind of thing in NYS for years. She’s infamous for her parachute-drop appearances, popping in with little notice and only before cherry picked crowds. That should tell ‘Rat voters nationwide something.

She’s going to try to run a completely scripted general election campaign, and unless we nominate Huckabee, she’s going to fail.

If I may...

...and unless we nominate Rudy McRombee, she's going to fail.

I support Fred Thompson. I think he’s the best candidate for conservatives to support. But I do believe that any of the others will probably beat Hillary, with the exception of Huckabee, which is why the left is so pro-Huckabee right now.

They might be able to beat, but they won’t govern any differently. To my mind Rudy McRombee and Hillary are the dictionary definition of a Hobson’s choice.

Especially after the driver's license fiasco, Team Hillary realize that they must control the message, the media, and the messenger.

We have known for years that an off-script Hillary would stumble, fumble, uhhh and yaknow herself out of contention. Team Hillary has to make every effort to keep her on-script. They can't afford to allow another driver's license type fiasco to erupt.

“Hugo Chavez's administration shut down one station that was critical of him, and has opened an investigation into the remaining opposition station, Globovision.”

CNN and Wolf Blitzer have already done that for Billery; CNN allowed the take over once and for all, during the last ‘debate’.

Chris Matthews got Ms. Clinton to answer ONE, just ONE question - an event so earth shaking that it caused Billery & Co. to shore up their empire even more tightly and never let this happen again. Ms. Clinton will not be held to the same rules of others on the campaign trail, she will not answer random questions and when she does attempt an answer, you can be sure that answer will not remain the same….all questions will be determined before hand………..

That's sounds like what the Democrats are trying to do to Fox News Channel......boycott debates, avoid interviews and criticize them for supporting the opposition.

Sounds like Hillary and her strategists are simply acting on what has been much commented upon in this forum: the growing irrelevance of the “Main Stream Media” in shaping that intrinsically amorphous entity known as “public opinion”. The flacks in the MSM are shocked that she is indifferent to their cries of outrage over her “manipulation” of their activities to produce the desired results for her campaign. This just shows how out of touch they are with the disintegration of their power.

Some candidates and their supporters are more conscious of this development than others. All of them better wake up and smell the coffee.

CNN's "official" pollster, Vinod Gupta, who controls the Opinion Research polling firm, and is a huge Clinton donor, has himself already declared Hillary Clinton the 2008 winner.

For the past four years, the Clintons have jetted around on Vinod Gupta’s corporate plane, to Switzerland, Hawaii, Jamaica, Mexico — $900,000 worth of travel. Gupta's huge donations to the Democratic Party earned him an infamous Lincoln Bedroom overnight; he is a key benefactor of Clinton’s post-presidency — and Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential candidacy.

Gupta admits donating $1 million to the Clinton Library and in 1999 gave $2 million for Hillary Clinton’s Millennium New Year’s Eve bash. He has raised over $200,000 for Hillary’s Senate campaigns and given thousands to other Democratic funds.

Vinod Gupta served as a member of Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (appointed by the President of the United States, Bill Clinton). He was nominated as the US Counsel General to Bermuda, and the U.S. Ambassador to Fiji.

Bill has a $3.3 million consulting deal with Gupta’s technology firm while his presidential library got a six-figure gift from Gupta. Clinton signed a consulting agreement in April 2002 to “provide confidential advice and counsel to the chairman and CEO of the company for the purpose of strategic growth and business development.”

InfoUSA made $2.1 million in quarterly payments to Mr. Clinton from July 2003 to April 2005, and in October 2005 entered into a new three-year agreement to pay him $1.2 million. It also gave him an option to buy 100,000 shares of infoUSA stock, with no expiration date.

InfoUSA, led by “Friend of Bill” Gupta, bought Opinion Research Corporation (ORC), a leading polling firm with a large government and business consulting subsidiary. On January 12, 2007, a little more than a month after infoUSA acquired ORC, it established a very interesting relationship (link to PDF):

Vinod Gupta is the father of Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN SENIOR MEDICAL Correspondent. Opinion Research Corporation will become CNN’s new polling partner as the network moves toward the 2008 elections. Beginning in 2007, polls released by the network will be identified as CNN/Opinion Research Corporation surveys. NEWS HEADER: CNN Pollster Vinod Gupta donates $1000 to Hillary Clinton - says “She’ll be our next President”

Gupta is so enamored with the Clintons that back in his native land, India, he has built little monuments to the Clintons in the form of the “Bill Clinton Science and Technology Center” and the “Hillary Rodham Clinton Mass Communication Center” for the Gochar Intermediate College, Rampur Maniharan, India.

EXCERPT FROM NY POST Federal investigators are probing a company run by a wheeler-dealer pal of Hillary and Bill Clinton that has already been accused by stockholders of wasting millions on the former first couple, it was revealed yesterday. InfoUSA, a database marketing company founded and headed by Clinton friend and megadonor Vin Gupta, filed papers with the SEC.

The filing said that the company would comply with the SEC's efforts to obtain records related to its corporate spending and trades of some company stock. Those SEC requests would suggest that the pending investigation parallels two lawsuits already filed against Gupta for sinking company dollars into lavish purchases - like a 80-foot yacht and real estate in vacation spots. The lawsuits, filed by two hedge funds, revealed that Gupta sprung for almost $900,000 in jet rides on the company dime for both Clintons since 2001, and a $3.3 million consulting contract for the former president. Additional allegations against Gupta include one that he improperly awarded 100,000 share options to Bill Clinton without board approval.

Y'all are more than welcome to join us here in South Carolina where conservatives are the rule rather than the exception.

Except, of course, for Pandsey Graham (RINO-SC) LOL!
