Thailand+ (AP) - BANGKOK, Nov. 21 (Kyodo)Four local officials riding in a pickup truck were shot dead by suspected Muslim insurgents in Thailand's restive southern province of Pattani on Wednesday, police said. According to police, the insurgents also hid an explosive device in the pickup and detonated it by remote control when police arrived on the scene, injuring two of them.
In neighboring Yala Province on Tuesday night, six people were wounded in a bomb attack at a restaurant, the Thai News Agency reported.
Witnesses were quoted as saying the suspected bomber posed as a customer and placed the bomb under a table. He is believed to have detonated the bomb by mobile phone after leaving the restaurant.

There are Amish in Thailand? Who knew?
The toughest part is getting the horse to pull the buggy across the ocean. Once that’s done, they’re golden.
” . . . “
You know where...
Thailand?
Pattya City. A great place to hang out. Relatively cheap, but the bot is rising. You know the secret is out when a U.S. carrier pulls in for the first time.
Who knew Richard Carr was Amish?
Baht
ha ha. I couldn’t remember and went for it. Lots of baht bought Singha beer.
AP. Associated Pathologicals.
The province is not “restive”.
The Muslims are “restive”.
The average citizen is trying to survive the Muslim’s rampage.
Pattya is not Pattani.
Pattanni is on the South West Coast, Pattya is in the Center Gulf on the East side.
Singha costs about 65 baht at the 7-11. In a bar it currently goes for 85 baht durning happy hour, but more like 100-125 baht normally. Chang and Heiniken are about the same.
85 baht is $2.50 @ 34 baht to the US $1.
Right now the exchange rate is 33.8 Baht to a dollar.
“4 officials shot dead by suspected insurgents in southern Thailand”
Yep, don’t put Islamic or Muslim in that headline...
Another example of today’s “unbiased” journalism
I know.
I was there in Sept, and will be going back in Feb and May. I still have about 2000 baht left over.
The 85 baht is for a 12 ounce Singha. The 1 liter is closer to 150 baht.
When you are on a Gov’t per diem, it’s pretty affordable. The per diem rate in Bangkok, I think is about $70 per day and the hotel rate is about $110. The windsor Suites in Bangkok ran about $84 a night. It is truely a 5 star hotel.
In Jomtien (10 miles from Pattya) the hotel was a 3 star and ran about $54 a night. It was ok, but you could tell the differance between the two.
I worked with some of the people doing the enforcemnet down south. Until they showed me some of the pictures they had, I didn’t realize how invested and involved they were in this GWOT.
Sawaadee cup!
Insurgents..... BS. They are terrorists AP, terrorists!
