At Ease and Listen Up!
Heres the deal. The Marines need our help. In some areas the annual Marine Corps Toys for Tots program is going into the dumper.
For more than 65 years, the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Campaign has provided Christmas presents for children who need them. Without the Corps, particularly the local Marine Reservists, these kids would wake up to joyless Christmas.
This year there is a huge problem in many areas. No, they DO NOT NEED donations of toys. The public does a great job of opening their hearts and wallets. Every year, literally millions of new toys are lovingly donated to this program. For example, I once did a story (Im an old TV newsie type) about a couple who bought used broken bikes at the annual police auction, then spent hundreds of hours restoring them to brand new condition. As a result, dozens of poor kids received new bikes every Christmas.
Local Marine Corps Reserve units provide all the labor; collecting, arranging, wrapping and distributing the toys. The problem is (and its a huge problem,) this year, many of those Marines Reservists are deployed in SWA. In many areas there are no local Marine Reservists available to work the Toys for Tots program. Imagine the loss to everyone if this program does not operate this year! And right now, in some areas, they are looking at a 70% shortfall drop in performance due to manpower shortages.
Simply put, they need help. The local Reserve units need people to help with the sorting, delivery, etc. They are not putting out an official call for help because they dont want to get into manpower issues, but they need help!
So, heres the deal. We all need to GOOB and call the local USMC Reserve unit. I know many of us former Army Green Machine Gravel Agitators worry about the danger to our reputation from being seen with Marines, but just talk slowly and go to words twice and they will be able to keep up with you.
Think about. The Marines arent here because they are in Harms Way, working for us. Its the least we can do for them .. and the kids!
Call now!
That is all.
Dismissed
And call NOW!
Making a note to spread the word to family and friends.
OK, I stepped outside and called. Nobody answered.
Number please.

Seriously. Telco Number varies by locale. Look in government pages in local phone book (often the Blue Pages.) Probably listed under DOD, DON, USMC or whatever. If no luck, call local Legion or VFW, they will know.
Thanks, I am calling all recruiters to see what type of
toys are needed and the location for delivery.
But in Austin this year, Toys For Tots is good to go!
Do you have a source please, I hate to pass on rumors. btw for a local contact to find out if help is needed use this link and enter your state in the box:

Another problem is, in some areas where parades or motorcycle toy runs have been used to collect toys in the past, PERMIT charges are going up (police costs, yada, yada, yada).
That is also causing difficulty for toy collection organizations.
Seems the last thing on some people’s minds is doing it “for the children”.
Prayers up for our warriors who continue to do their job under incredibly difficult conditions. Let’s all send a gift to our Marines this Christmas in the form of prayer for each and every one of them.
