FORT WORTH -- A woman was robbed late Monday in the driveway of her west-side home, which riled her husband, who gave chase across town, even though a robber fired a shot at him, police said.
The robber, however, got away in a white Pontiac Grand Am driven by another person, said Lt. Dean Sullivan, police spokesman.
Police were notified at about 10 p.m. of the incident in the 3100 block of Edgehill Road, a neighborhood south of Interstate 30 and northwest of the intersection of Ridglea Avenue and Camp Bowie Boulevard.
The woman told police that she had just returned home from grocery shopping when she noticed the white car pull into her neighbor's driveway, Sullivan said.
A man with a handgun got out and demanded her purse, Sullivan said. The woman complied.
But then the woman's husband came out of the home and confronted the robber, who fired a shot at the husband as the robber ran to the waiting getaway car, Sullivan said.
"Fortunately no one was injured," Sullivan said.
The gunfire, however, did not deter the husband, who got into his own vehicle and chased the white car.
At one point the two vehicles collided, but the impact didn't disable them, Sullivan said.
The chase continued into east Fort Worth, where the husband lost sight of the white car as it turned onto U.S. 287, Sullivan said.
No other information was immediately available this morning.
I'm sorry the woman didn't have a gun easily accessible. Never depend on someone else to be there when you really need a defense!
Right back into the Stop Six area.

Basil, please don’t give my wife an excuse, she has three guns now! (she only carries one)
Good for your wife. I hope she always carries at least one with her at all times.
