RUSH: Mark in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Am I reading that right? Welcome to the program. Don't have my glasses on so I couldn't really read it, but I guessed and got it right.
CALLER: Yes you got it right, dittos, long-time listener, 24/7 member, and fellow talk show host inspired by you, my friend.
RUSH: Well.
CALLER: Been at it for five years on the Internet, think I've got the biggest show on the Internet, and I've got a big question for you.
RUSH: All right, ask away.
CALLER: All right. The question is this. I think the most conservative candidate that we have for president is Duncan Hunter, going through his website, listening to what he's got on the news, his different interviews and stuff, I mean he definitely meets the conservative agenda head on. And we're just not hearing a lot from him. And we're not hearing a lot from him, from you. And I'm wondering, sir, do you have any plans in the near future for interviews with him, for talking to him on the air? I mean, I did hear, you spoke about an e-mail update you got from him the other day, but other than that it looks like the best candidate here is not getting pushed by the strongest conservative people.
RUSH: Well, here's my answer to your question. I'm asked this a lot and historically I have not gotten involved in primaries, because if I had any of these people, and they have all asked to come on this show, and I respectfully say no, because I'd have to ask them all back. And I really don't look at this program as a campaign vehicle during primaries. Among other things, I, frankly, Mark, I have the belief that political candidates have a duty to get noticed themselves. It's an unfair process in terms -- Mrs. Clinton. Mrs. Clinton is strictly there because she didn't divorce her husband. In fact, she's strictly there because she married him. If her last name weren't Clinton, she'd be the dean of some all-girls' school in Albania touring villages at night and doing whatever you do in a village at night, when you run an all-girls' school. She's just benefiting from conventional wisdom. In the case of Rudy, the reason Rudy is getting a lot of attention is the northeastern bias in the media. The northeastern bias in the media wants two northeasterners to run.
Even some of our conservative journalist friends who are headquartered and work in the northeast, in New York and Washington, are willing to overlook, in some cases, the lack of genuine conservatism in some candidates because they're from the northeast. They have a geographical bias because of where they live. People in the northeast think it's at that it's the heartbeat and the pulse of the country there, and the rest of the country is flyover country and all of that. So it's tough to get out of the bottom tier. You need a really humongous debate performance, and you need an early announcement in some cases when you're going against somebody that's going to benefit from all the conventional wisdom, the media and others. But I sit and watch until one of them surfaces because that's what their job is to do, not mine.
Rush has already said he isn’t going to carry the water for the GOP any longer. I want to see him put his money where his mouth is, and start calling out BY NAME the RINOS in this race, starting with the ones he’s referring to- Rudy and Romney.
It makes me “hate the conventional wisdom” all the more..
And write editor’s letters and call a talk show. I’m doing my pep rally today. :)
Here’s my letter which was published in a couple of papers if anyone wants to use it or part of it:
“Dear Editor:
Disillusioned with the front runners in the presidential race? Take a look at Duncan Hunter, and it’s early enough to support him.
Duncan Hunter fought hard so that students would be allowed to pray in public schools (just as Congress is allowed to), and is strongly pro-life (authored the personhood-at-conception bill; attended the pro-life march in D.C., etc.).
Hunter has been the most effective candidate on securing our borders. He had a fence built in San Diego, which tremendously stopped crime in San Diego, including illegal drug trafficking, and authored the bill for an 854 mi. double border fence with border patrol in between, with a climb-proof barrier, which was signed into law. Duncan Hunter says that border security is national security.
He will bring back high-paying jobs to our country which we lost because of bad trade deals with Red China and the rest of the world and cheating by Red China. While Duncan Hunter voted No for Most Favored Trade Status with Red China, he voted Yay for trade with Australia, because it was in our county’s best interests.
Duncan Hunter was Chairman of the Armed Services Committee (when the Republicans had the majority), gave us ABS deployed in Alaska, and Hunter built up the defense that Bill Clinton tore down, and got equipment and weapons to protect our troops, and our country,
Hunter served with the Army Rangers in Viet Nam, won a medal, and his son did two tours in Iraq, including Fallujah, and is now doing a third tour in Afghanistan.

I suspect (and its a smart move economically) he doesn’t want to loose listeners (He fully; and smartly) knows that once he endorses someone then the rest of the Republican field will (most supporters of other candidates) will be put off, and then they will call in ask why/argue with him, and that will be the focus of the show, not defeating liberalism and (Rush’s Agenda).
“Thanks for the info in post #132. Ill start tomorrow.”
You’ve been pretty busy lately! WTG!
“Not only all that, yesterday I attended a PCO meeting to select Richard Curtiss replacement. Signing in, I noticed candidate stickers on the desk for nearly all candidates, but Duncan Hunter. I asked where was the stickers for him and received a reply of WHO?
The young lady who was there knows who he is now. But, the local Republican Party in Southwest Washington didnt know who he was!
That is being corrected.”
Good for you.
It makes you wonder, if these people should even vote. Don’t they even watch a debate once in awhile?
I hear ya there! She picked up where Rowland left off.
“You dont speak for me.”
Yeah, true, but that doesn’t change the fact that your candidate doesn’t even crack 1 percent in any national poll.
“An increasing number of people will disagree with your assessment.”
When they finally crack that one percent mark, give me a call.
Rush was referring to the common knowledge that the lamestream media wants a RUDY vs. HILLARY campaign.
THAT's what he meant by "two liberals" in the race.
I heard the entire Rush show today. He has said the exact SAME thing before, that the media wants RUDY vs HILLARY -- and he simply said it again today.
I'll probably get mocked for saying this, but I think it's time more people wake up and realize what is going on. The reason the "Top Tier" candidates are RINOs is because the media is controlled by CFR members, and guess what...all the so-called "front-runners" are CFR.
They do this intentionally, through biased reporting and polls, they create their own "reality". Unfortunately, many people buy it and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy... Because (as usual) what we end up with is the "choice" between a CFR Democrat and a CFR Republican, which of course is no meaningful choice at all. Why, because despite minor differences on certain issues, the eventual result is the same.
This is why Ron Paul (contrary to what many here want to believe) has a lot of grassroots passionate support - because more and more people can see what is happening to this country. If we do not have a free press, or a voice in who we truly want to elect, how free are we?
I hope more people do some research on this, don't dismiss it as just a conspiracy theory, this is our country and freedom we're slowly but surely losing.
flame away
Would you mind explaining just exactly what it is you find distasteful or disagreeable about his message.
I’d really like to understand just why conservatives reject him and his message.
No, he didn't.
Rush was simply stating what he's said MANY times before -- that the national media wants "Rudy and Hillary, two liberals, running against each other.
He was NOT referring to Romney.
Of course the Deranged Romney haters here on FR want us to THINK Rush meant Romney.
But that don't make it so.
He should have included Huckabe with the other 2!
Unless I’ve missed something, I haven’t heard Rush mention any of the Rep. candidates. He mentions Hillary and Obama and Edwards quite a bit, though.
BS
I wasn’t talking to you.
Of course. The reason I stress writing a check is that the credit card companies take 5% off the top, so the campaign doesn’t get your complete contribution.
But if you’ve contributed through the website, thank you very much. :)
I like Fred as an appearant conservative, but many people thought the celebrity Schwartzenegger talked like a conservative, too. The people Fred has manning the important positions like Hard Baker and others, remind me of Gerald Ford and his pick for V.P. Nelson Rockefeller and his wife Happy. Those folks are about as far from conservative as you can get in the Republican Party!!!
Fred has shown me his CONservative side with these staffing positions, not a committed, consistent conservative committment. Sorry!!!
