We all get "those" emails from time to time-the ones making claims that are meant to be passed on. We've learned to check things on sites like snopes.com to make sure what we pass is true. When it comes to the movie The Golden Compass, whats going around is...true

My thoughts exactly. If your faith is so weak that a mere movie can threaten it... you’ve got other issues.

Blatant? Not really. He subtly weaves a story of deciept and lies. The villians from the first book are out to take on God. You don’t find out the are the good guys (from his point of view) until the end of the third book. Until that time the “heroes” are twisted every which way and the reader doesn’t know for sure that this isn’t another big lie.
Don't care to know either.
“The Name of the Rose” is a novel written by athiest Umberto Eco. Some find some of it’s themes anti-Christian. Others, including myself, respect how Eco did very good research into the lives of monks living in the middle ages. His weaving of mystery (the movie “se7en” was based on this book), history and philosophy was masterful. His intent was not to mock or rip Christianity, but simply to tell a story.
That being said, Pullman’s books are by intent Anti-Christian. It isn’t that there are themes that some might find offensive, it’s that the series was written to offend those that follow Christ. That is his intent. That is why I will not see it.
I went to the web site and wasn’t particularly impressed with the concept they were trying to sell there.
When they propose you (children) have to link up with the sprite (forget if this is the right word for it or not) of your choice, they lost my support.
It’s one thing to have a character that kids admire in a movie. It’s another to sell them on the idea that they can’t fluorish/survive without that entity.
I hope everyone here at FR has learn more damage can be done to a film you disapprove of by not showing up for it than to become some news magazines “kook of the week” at a theater protest.
Just quietly kill it with your word of mouth, make sure you watch for the name Deborah Forte the producer( because they are the ones that have financially backed it) and not buy or rent her stuff again.
At some point hollywood will learn or the investment groups behind them that creating hostile entertainment against Christians is a losing business. These people only understand box office. DONT publically protest it and start a buzz about the film.

Exactly. Belief that is never tested with a contrary view isn’t worth much.
