If you're interested in a fuel efficient vehicle, why in the hell would you drop $17,000 on this glorified go kart when there are other options that get you 40 MPG or close to it?
A Honda Civic is at or near this price range and you get two more whole seats!

I wonder how this baby will hold up when it gets banged into by a Hummer or an Escalade.

Lets see what it gets when sideswipped by a double-loader.

Don’t be surprised if you find one of these stuck up in the wheel well of your SUV next time you wash it.

I have a moped that I bought for 1/10th that price and it routinely gets about 80 - 85 mpg....big deal.

WTF?
My '05 Corolla gets 36MPG ... and I can actually do things with it. It has a Back Seat! and a Front Passenger Seat! And a Trunk! (That's a "boot" for you UK type folks.) Wow! Several times the functionality, for only a 10% fuel economy hit.

This is the problem. If you want Americans to conserve, to drive cars with better fuel economy, you gotta give us something that does NOT look like it should have a pocket protector in the trunk and a pair of (taped in the middle) black, large rim glasses on the bumper.
Take you standard Jeep. It’s not a heavy vehicle. Put a hybrid engine in it, but DO NOT change the body style or the performance.
I’d buy one.

The thing that really irks me is that SUVs get a reputation for being dangerous. Of course, it's all in how you look at things, but I like an SUV because I feel safe in one. If my car were to collide with this little Go Kart, I think I'd probably be OK.
But is the Go Kart considered "dangerous"? Oh, No! It's the SUV that's dangerous!

I ordered mine the first day that they were offered. SmartUSA says that I should expect mine in January. $14K loaded. Perfect for the city. Who cares about the mileage, it’s FUN!
