Roger Ailes, the chairman of the Fox News Channel, calls Shepard Smith his go-to guy, the person he wants leading the channels coverage any time news breaks.
Mr. Ailes has put his networks money where he wants its chief voice to be. Last week, Mr. Smith signed a new contract that will take him, a former local news reporter from Holly Springs, Miss., into financial territory usually occupied only by network news anchors. Although Fox did not release the exact terms of the new deal, an executive briefed on the them said that Mr. Smith, who is 43, had signed a new contract for a little more than three years at a salary of $7 million to $8 million a year.

gag. Three more years of Shep's breathless panic-mongering.

Wow! No wonder I rarely turn on Fox any more, if Shep is the best in Roger Ailes’ eyes.

Get this line from the NY Slimes:
"He also won widespread praise for his reporting of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina."
My question: from who????
I saw his coverage and work at Katrina. He was atrocious.

calls Shepard Smith his go-to guy,What happens when your "Go-To Guy" IS the guy. Then what?:)

Shep Smith was arrested in 2001 after an altercation with another journalist over a parking place. Allegedly, a female journalist was saving a parking spot for someone and Smith backed into her car and yelled an obscenity to a group of bystanders. All charges against him were later dropped.">

Shep Smith is one of the reasons I no long watch Fox News. He was a JOKE down here in South Florida where he worked for the local Fox affiliate (Channel 7). Hell, so did that OTHER joke, Rick Sanchez. Why do our local Jokes go on and make it nationally? I'd like to offer an apology to all.
Anyways, Faux News is just like the rest, even if they do tilt towards the right. "If it bleeds, it leads"..

Actually who else would they pick there? I would prefer to hear breaking news from Brit, but he tends to stay mostly in the beltway topics and I don’t think he hovers around the place like Shep does.
